• My father passed away when I was 2½ and my mom had to work a lot to raise me, so I often had to come up with meals on my own. I’d eat sandwiches made of white bread, cheese and ketchup. I was a couch potato, and in college I ballooned. For 14 years I smoked a pack and a half or two packs of cigarettes a day. And at happy hour I could easily down a pitcher of margaritas and 20 buffalo wings. In 2003 I got pregnant, and I quit smoking cold turkey, but after having my daughter, I never lost all the weight I’d gained. After my third child was born, I was in and out of the hospital with a bunch of issues, including back pain. My doctor poked my stomach and told me, “Lose the other twin and come back to see me.” I knew I didn’t want anyone to talk to me like that again. When I started going to Weight Watchers meetings in 2007, things really changed. I loved being surrounded by people who were going through the same thing I was.
