Political Rifts: President Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell held a press conference to affirm their commitment to working together, with the president asserting their relationship “has been outstanding.” While Trump has attacked McConnell on Twitter over the Senate’s failure to repeal and replace Obamacare, Republicans’ slim majority in the Senate as they begin an effort to rewrite the tax code makes party unity particularly critical for their agenda.
