Girl Detained By Border Patrol After Emergency Surgery Released To Parents

Rosa Maria Hernandez, 10, was taken into custody while on her way to a Texas hospital. Rosa Maria, who has cerebral palsy, had been put into deportation proceedings and housed away from her family.
The U.S. Border Patrol says its officers were required to take a 10-year-old girl into custody when they encountered her at a checkpoint. The ACLU says the government has now released Rosa Maria Hernandez to her parents in Laredo, Texas.

The federal government has released a 10-year-old girl with cerebral palsy to her family, according to the American Civil Liberties Union.
