POETS & WRITERS MAGAZINE ANNOUNCES application information for writers conferences, literary festivals, residencies, and colonies of interest to poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers. Applications for the following events are due shortly. Conferences and festivals with rolling, first-come, first-served admission are listed well in advance. Some accept registration on the date of the event. Contact the sponsoring organization for an application and complete guidelines. When requesting information by mail, enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope (SASE).

Anderson Center Residency Program

The Anderson Center at Tower View offers two- and four-week residencies from May through October to poets, fiction writers, creative nonfiction writers, and translators on a 330-acre estate in Red Wing, Minnesota. Residents are provided with lodging, meals, and studio space. For residencies in May, June, September, and October, using the online application system submit 10 pages of poetry or prose, a résumé, a project proposal, and a $20 application fee by February 15. For the August residency, which is reserved for emerging artists from Minnesota and New York City and is sponsored by the Jerome Foundation, using the online application system submit 10 pages of poetry or prose, a résumé, and a project proposal by February 15. Art Farm

Art Farm offers residencies of two weeks to five months from June 1 to November 1 to poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers on a working farm in Marquette, Nebraska, approximately 80 miles west of Lincoln. Residents are provided with a private room and work space. Families are also welcome. Each resident is asked to contribute 12 hours of work on the farm per week. Submit up to 10 poems or a short story, a novel chapter, or up to three essays of any length; a curriculum vitae; and three references with a $20 application fee by March 1. Aspen Summer Words Writing Conference and Literary Festival

The 42nd annual Aspen Summer Words Writing Conference and Literary Festival will be held from June 17 to June 22 at the Gant Hotel in Aspen, Colorado. The conference features workshops, panels, and readings, as well as opportunities to meet with agents and editors. The faculty includes poet Tina Chang; fiction writers Tom Perrotta and Helen Schulman; and nonfiction writers Bruce Handy, Aran Shetterly, and Margot Lee Shetterly.
