Source: Moto Guzzi built the first full-scale motorcycle wind tunnel in 1950. The tunnel allowed designers to streamline their bikes but also let riders test out different stances and body positions to maximize their speed on the racetrack. The wind tunnel was actually a modified design of a tunnel created by Gustave Eiffel, the man best known for his iconic Parisian landmark.

The Moto Guzzi Otto Cylindri, commonly known as the Otto or V8, is widely considered one of the greatest motorcycles ever created. Used in competition by the Moto Guzzi Grand Prix racing team from 1955 to 1957, the bike was light-years ahead of its time, featuring a water-cooled, 500-cc V-8 engine that weighed just 99 pounds.

Heritage is both a help and a hindrance to Moto Guzzi, an Italian motorcycle manufacturer with century-old roots. A rousing start was followed by a tough era featuring numerous slipups and near-fatal stumbles that eventually steered Guzzi to where it is today: a company that creates eclectic, aesthetically interesting bikes typically unseen by the masses.
