How did you first get into photography?

I’ve always been creative rather than academic; at school I was more into art and design than maths and English. But it wasn’t really until I was 17 and I went to Canada on holiday that I really started taking pictures. It was my first time out of the UK, and I found myself inspired by everything I saw. It was the first time I was consciously aware I enjoyed having a camera in my hands, and it was a defining moment for me.

I’ve also always been fascinated by natural history documentaries, and very quickly the creative photography side and the interest in animals collided. It was a natural progression for me.
