East And West, Both Coasts Brace For Major Winter Storms

A nor'easter could dump as much as a foot of snow in parts of New York, Pennsylvania and northern New England. Meanwhile, in Southern California, evacuations were ordered due to fears of mudslides.

While a major nor'easter was beginning to pummel parts of the U.S. East Coast, the approach of another winter storm in California caused fears of mudslides on slopes, denuded by last summer's wildfires.
