After being cleared in fatal shooting, Chicago cop fired for lying about unrelated arrest

CHICAGO - A Chicago police officer cleared in a controversial fatal shooting of an unarmed teen has been fired along with another veteran officer for lying about the circumstances of a domestic violence arrest almost five years ago.

In a unanimous decision, the Chicago Police Board voted at its monthly meeting Thursday night that Officers Kevin Fry and Robert Lobianco violated the Police Department's Rule 14 - making a false oral or written statement - when video from a surveillance camera contradicted the officers' account of the arrest.

Fry first gained attention in January 2016 with the release of video that captured him fatally shooting 17-year-old Cedrick Chatman during a foot chase on a sunny afternoon on a busy
