BOOK NOOK

Fat-quarter Favorites

compiled by Karen M. Burns, US$22.99

This collection of 13 all-new projects will inspire you to dig into your stash of fat quarters – the ones you’ve been saving for ‘special’, the contributors Peta Peace and Samantha Dorn (who debuted in last month’s issue, with her quilt). All the projects are patchwork – only one has a touch of appliqué – and most are single/twin bed size or larger. However, as many of them are block-based, it would be straightforward to make more or fewer blocks to change the size of the projects, if you wished. The instructions for each project are provided in Martingale’s standard (high-quality) style, with readers referred to Martingale’s website if they need help with quiltmaking basics; they aren’t included in the book itself.
