Good Organic Gardening

THE LAND   OF PLENTY

Sometimes a quarter-acre suburban block is all you need and this one in Belmont, Victoria, with its cool-to-Mediterranean climate, provides most of its occupants’ food requirements.

Goshen Watts, who describes himself as a full-time dad, part-time permaculture designer and keen rock climber, also manages a micro market garden and is involved in Geelong Organic Gardeners and the Transition Towns project.

He grew up in Geelong and helped his mum Julie with her vegie garden, but he got serious about gardening himself in 2006. Four years later, he embraced permaculture.

“Industrial agriculture and its associated use of oil, water and chemicals is not sustainable,” says Goshen, whose colourful website Watts Permaculture is worth reading on all things organic
