Materials
• Assortment of fat quarters, fat eighths and scraps of green print fabrics to total about 2m (21⁄4yd) (leaves)
• 12 squares, 6in of assorted red print fabrics (main flowers)

Fat quarter green print fabric (cornerstones)
• Scraps of assorted print fabrics (pom pom applique)
• 3.9m (41⁄4yd) cream print fabric (background)
• 1.5m (15⁄8yd) aqua tone-on-tone print fabric (sashing)
• 50cm (5⁄8yd) dark print fabric (binding)
• 3.4m (33⁄4yd) backing fabric
• Batting at least 215cm x 170cm (84in x 66in)
• Size 8 or 9 straw (milliner’s) needle and 100% cotton hand-quilting threads — one light colour and one dark colour (back basting)
• Fine needle and threads in colours to match the fabrics to be used for applique
• Large sheets of paper
• Lightbox (optional)
• Fine black permanent-marking pen
• Water-erasable fabric-marking pen
• Rotary cutter, ruler and mat
• Sewing machine
• General sewing supplies
Cut the fabric
From the fat quarter of green print fabric, cut:
• four strips, 31⁄2in x width of the fat quarter. Cross cut
