• 45cm (5⁄8yd) taupe print fabric #2 (block backgrounds and applique)
• 55cm (5⁄8yd) taupe print fabric #3 (Border 2)
• 1.3m (11⁄2yd) mid-brown solid fabric (borders, blocks and binding)
• 30cm (3⁄8yd) mid-brown print fabric (blocks)
• 20cm (1⁄4yd) dark brown solid fabric (blocks and Border 2)
• 10cm (1⁄8yd) light brown print fabric #1 (blocks)
• 15cm (1⁄4yd) light brown print fabric #2 (blocks)
• 25cm (3⁄8yd) pink print fabric #1 (blocks)
• 10cm (1⁄8yd) pink print fabric #2 (Border 2)
1.2m (13⁄8yd) backing fabric
Batting at least 120cm (45in) square
• Pre-cut elongated hexagons with short sides 1in or template plastic, permanent-marking pen and stiff paper to make your own
• Semi-water soluble applique paper (optional) — see Note
• Milliner’s/straw needle in size 10 or 11
• Fine thread in a neutral colour
• Water-soluble fabric-basting glue (optional)
• Spray starch
• Rotary cutter, ruler and mat
• Sewing machine
• General sewing supplies
Note: Prepare a swatch chart: cut a small piece from each fabric, glue them to a strip of cardboard and label them. Our instructions will refer to the fabrics that Linda used — your swatch chart will be a handy guide for substituting
