Broth-based beauties

When the nights are long and the days are short, there’s nothing like soothing the soul with a hearty bowl of bone broth. Bone broth is one of the world’s miracle foods and broth-based dishes are the cornerstone of many traditional food cultures because of the remarkable health benefits bone broth contains.

When you simmer fish, beef, chicken, venison or lamb bones with filtered water, a dash of apple-cider vinegar, salt, pepper and a few of your favourite in-season vegetables for 12 or more hours, it creates a concoction that can assist in building stronger joints, improving digestion and even helping to keep inflammatory conditions, such as hay fever and asthma, at bay. Plus, given that a bag of bones (I use organic bones wherever possible) costs just a few dollars from your local butcher, it’s one of the most cost-effective, nutritious and delicious staples you can make in the kitchen.
