BUILD A COLD FRAME

A good halfway home to harden plants off between a greenhouse and outdoor beds, this tidy frame is easy to make and is a great aid for any gardener. The clear sides and roof allow maximum light to reach plants. The posts keep the structure firmly anchored down, even in a strong wind, and the closing system is a simple and elegant way to use low-tech materials.

Scale the dimensions up to make a larger frame. You will need to add in some extra fixing points and a cross-piece to support the lid if you make one that is twice the size.
