THE BEAUTY OF BANTAMS

Lots of people barely know of or discuss bantams when thinking about utilising their back garden, allotment or smallholding. Yet they can be highly advantageous and productive for the keen gardener or homesteader.

Firstly, what are bantams? Bantams are basically, in laymen’s terms, a half-sized chicken. They are the toddler of the poultry world. Bantams are a small, condensed, compact size chicken which come in many different breeds and types. Bantams can have as much character and charm as a full-size chicken and can be highly useful to the gardener.

In this article, I hope to share some tips and information about this fascinating and brilliant addition to the garden or allotment. Beginners and expert poultry keepers can keep bantams and they can produce fresh eggs for the whole family.
