The aesthetics of African art carries a magical power for anyone interested in the visual arts. Art itself is a portrait of a culture in motion, expressed in forms that also include drama, dance and music. Artists already emerged in the primitive age, with cave paintings and the like; later on in the Egyptian, Greek and Roman civilisations, through to the Renaissance and modern times, not forgetting the great civilizations of Asia and the Americas.
