She's a New York senator with a long record of advocating for survivors of sexual harassment and assault, particularly in the military, and a reputation as an ally for women, particularly with her Off the Sidelines campaign encouraging women into political action.
As of Jan. 15, she's also running for president. (Which she announced on the "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.")
