Dear Editor, I would like to reply to the letter “Police ignorance of the law” by Allen & Karen Davies posted in the December 2018 issue.

When travelling you will unfortunately and inevitably come across the ignorant, self-important and uneducated even in their own line of work! It is just a disease of our times and society, mixed in with bad human nature.

On top that there are not many of us travelling in SA in this weight class. All that most traffic officers know is that a truck driver needs to have a PDP.

So my advice is to get a PDP just like I did. I have never had any problem at police checkpoints.
