Qualifying in the cold
Rain and a cold northerly wind on the Saturday saw qualifying run in terrible – and worsening – conditions.
Within a lap or two, a faulty float chamber on one of the bikes had fuel dropping onto the track, with the resulting psychedelic rainbow meaning everyone tiptoed around Cadwell’s narrow ribbon of asphalt.
Bonhams’ series leader Sam Clews (ACR Manx) took no notice of the hazard and was on a real mission, taking pole with an incredible 2:12.929 lap. Clews’ time was almost 1.5 seconds faster
