As mentioned last month, the Bristol Classic Bike Show was postponed for two weeks, due to impassable local roads on set-up day. Unfortunately PUB’s club had scheduled a committee meeting locally for the same weekend, to enable members to do both, which was not cancelled. However she was able to leave departure until later in the day, by which time conditions were had improved (even turning sunny). But it did make her reluctant to repeat the trip a couple of weeks later for the re-schedule, with many exhibitors likely not to be free, or already having spent much of their expenses.

Neither is there a proper Dragon Rally report, the other event normal at this time of year, because PUB has finally called a halt as reported last April (RC168). The weather was perverse, of course, turning mild between the bike show and rally weekends!

However, it was rather wet, in addition to any melted snow, so the site – the familiar ‘Riverside’ at Capel Curig – was pretty damp underfoot as it is prone to be (one year half swallowing bikes and tents). Nevertheless it was well attended as usual, with the regular turnout of classics, including the mandatory Panther, and one of those ‘they will never be ridden’ Brough Superiors (one which has become a regular attendee in fact). So PUB offers her congratulations to the Conwy club’s hard working members for another event, and her apologies for not having on the spot photos to offer readers.
