USB–C IS NOW standard on all MacBooks and the new iPad Pro. A welcome change from prior versions is that the plug fits the port either way round. A more crucial difference is that a USB–C cable can have the same plug on both ends.
Previously, you could use a USB Micro-B cable to connect cameras, speakers, battery packs, and other accessories to any wall charger with a USB–A port. The charger would deliver, by default, one unit load of power, defined as 100 milliamps, or 150 mA for SuperSpeed (USB 3), at 5 volts.
