TRAIL

The Art of Not Falling

Mountain climber and runner Karine Bezuidenhout, trail runner and coach Nic De Beer, mountain lover Rachel Manyathi, coach and elite athlete Meg Mackenzie, Skyrunner Lucky Miya, and endurance athlete Nicky Booyens offer their practical guidance to keep you on your feet.

BALANCE AND BREATHE

Karine Bezuidenhout has a holistic approach to staying stable on trails.

Breathe with your flow

When you make a breathing practice part of your normal training regime, it’s easier to breath deeply, efficiently, and relaxed on technical terrain. This in turn helps your core stay activated and upper body relaxed.

I enjoy box breathing and the Wim Hof Method (specific deep breath and control tecnhniques), as a separate breathing regime.

Train stability

Train lower body stabilisers not only in the frontal plane (like normal single-legged squats or lunges on a BOSU ball), but also in rotation (like in twisted chair pose in yoga).

Regular slacklining
