WHEN bespoke builder CCM launched its new Spitfire range of motorcycles in 2016, based on an exquisite, hand-welded carbon-steel frame (coated in clear lacquer), a torquey 600cc single-pot mill and sprinkled with glorious custom details, it made headlines around the world and their first run of 150 machines sold out almost instantly.

You could be forgiven, though, if you had never heard of CCM before then. However, the small-scale builder, based in Bolton in the north-west of England, has been churning out championship-winning bikes for the best part of 50 years.
