After pregnant teen killed, moms worry about joining groups on Facebook: 'People have to use their best judgment'

CHICAGO - Joining a moms group on Facebook has become as common a ritual for pregnant women and new mothers as buying the book "What to Expect When You're Expecting" and registering for shower gifts.

But the killing of pregnant Chicago teenager Marlen Ochoa-Lopez has many on edge.

Police and family say Ochoa-Lopez was going to pick up a stroller from a woman she contacted in one such Facebook group when she was strangled and her baby boy was cut from her womb. The 19-year-old's body was found dumped outside a home in the 4100 block of West 77th Place early Wednesday, nearly four weeks after she had been reported missing. The baby suffered brain damage and is on life support at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
