Fruit bowls!

These are the second worst set of carburettors I’ve ever seen!

The worst carb I ever saw was one off a Honda C70 I got given for free in Scotland back in 1990. It had been filled with west coast rain for a couple of years and was literally corroded solid into one piece.

We saw how crappy the fuel was inside the tank last issue, but even that didn’t prepare me for what I found inside the Mikuni BSR33 float bowls. I’ve stripped a good few sets of carbs over the years and these little Mikunis are much the same as the first set of CV carbs I took apart off my GPz550 in 1990. There’s a top half, with the spring, diaphragm and needle, and the bottom half, with float valve, main, pilot, needle and air jets.

Keep all the bits together for each carb, remove carefully, give them a clean, replace anything that’s not spot on, new
