About this audiobook

In the badlands of southern Baja, retired expatriate billionaire Atticus Fish finds himself sabotaging illegal commercial longliners from his one-man submarine, and schooling boneheaded tourists in civility. But when archaeologist Duncan Rigby gets kidnapped while on the trail of the legendary Jesuit Treasure, intrepid PI Toozie McGill enlists Atticus to fire up his seaplane and fly off in pursuit. Finding the archaeologist is one thing; recovering the stolen jewels is something else altogether. Now that word of the Treasure is out, will Atticus and his sideckick, mescal bootlegger Skegs, stand a chance against the deadly wave of treasure hunters who wash up on Baja’s shores?

A delightfully offbeat mystery adventure brimming with colorful characters and local atmosphere, El Dorado Blues will charm readers in the best-selling tradition of Carl Hiaasen, Elmore Leonard, and Jimmy Buffett.

Did not care for the storyline or the writing style. I did see it through till the end because it keeps you just to the point of where you think something exciting may occur. Production of the audiobook was good though.

I just finished all three books in the Atticus Fish series by Shaun Morey, and they were the perfect blend of actin adventure and humor. Real inexpensive on Amazon in Kindle format and a whole lot of fun to read. Check them out. They all take place in Baja And will make you wish you were there sipping on an ice cold beer.

I haven't read Shaun More's first Atticus Fish book but, after this one, I'm definitely going to get a copy and read it.El Dorado Blues is a zany treasure hunt that reminds me a little of 'It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World'. Using airplanes, cars, trucks, yachts, submarines and mules, a collection of shady characters that Carl Hiaasen could have been proud of chase each other through Baja California in pursuit of the legendary Jesuits' Treasure, recently unearthed by an American archeologist. The protagonist, Atticus Fish, is a former attorney who successfully sued God, winning billions in a class action lawsuit against insurance companies and organized religions over the 'act of God' policy exclusion. This may have earned him several boatloads of cash but it also put him squarely in the crosshairs of any psycho zealot looking to get in the good graces of their chosen higher power. His solution is change his name, buy an Island in the Sea of Cortez, and enjoy life in a manner that Jimmy Buffet would envy. What adds the most to this book and makes it a real delight to read is the author's obvious familiarity with and love for the region. I personally never thought of Baja as anything more than a sandy strip of land supporting a road from Ensenada to Cabo but it is clearly much more than that to Shaun Morey. His love of Baja is evident on almost every page and he has given me a new appreciation for and interest in the region. The review copy of this book was obtained from the publisher via the Amazon Vine Program.
