- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5What a wonderfully crafted book that goes through some of the common arguments from skeptics. I love the way he ends it with his powerful personal testimony!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Looking for truth? It is a great story and explanation of it. Please take a few minutes to read it. You won’t regret it!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The chapter on the resurrection is the best. Probably best to read (or listen to) just that chapter and maybe if you like interviews, those. I like testimonies of transformed lives, so I'm surprised at how disappointing Mr McDowell's testimony was (He learned to SAY "I love you" to his dad, but did he ever actually love him? Maybe if I heard this part of the story it wouldn't be as disappointing). Maybe the part that was distasteful to me was the unscriptural sinners-prayer-ish thing.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I guess after hearing the hype my expectations were too high. Some good points, but like all the apologists I've read, falls short. If I was an unbeliever this book wouldn't change my mind.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book presents logical arguements for Christ, His life, His works, and the validity of His claims.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Excellent book. It is short and precise, without overwhelming the average reader with elaborated theology, a trap many other apologetic books fall into. Highly recommended, but with a little discernment.
Two small issues:
- They endorse C.S. Lewis, who was a false teacher (believed in purgatory; Tao is the highest morality; rejected biblical inerrancy; theistic evolutionist; considered Hindu, Buddhist and Muslims as brothers in Christ).
- They state at the beginning of the book that the command to not work at the Weekly Sabbath is obsolete, which is clearly wrong. This would imply that 3500 years before Israel was even heard of (5500 - 2000 BC Jacob), people would have worked 30 days a month and 360 days a year. This does obviously not make sense. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is fascinating. I listened to a video on "Evidence that demands a verdict", by the same author, when I was a teen. Reflecting again today on the bible, I came across this book.
Now the challenge... pass it on. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book is very interesting, inspirational and right on the mark. I can see why so many lives have been changed through it's message. Very good record too by the author.
