About this audiobook
Winter gripped the city. Terror gripped it, too. They found four corpses in four days, each more hideous than the last.
At first the cops thought they were dealing with a psychopath. But soon they heard eerie sounds in the ventilation system—and saw unearthly silver eyes in the snow-slashed night.
In a city paralyzed by a blizzard, something watches, something stalks.…

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Love Dean Koontz but man is he bad at writing romantic scenes. The whole chapter where Rebecca opens up to him was almost unbearable and then when this man said “he spurred into her velvet recesses,” I lost it!

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Small creatures resurrected from hell scaring and killing specified people by a Voodoo Witch Doctor bent on seeking revenge. Great read. Always full of action and never a dull moment. This is one of Koontz' finer writings in my estimation. Kept me engaged and on the edge of my seat. You'll never be able to sleep in the dark again.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5In NYC, in the midst of a 100-year storm, a police officer and his female partner, struggle to keep the minions from hell away from his two young children. It's a race to see if the officer and his family, or the evil Voodoo Bocor will triumph. This was a really fast read and I enjoyed the race through NYC during a raging snowstorm as they fought to keep alive against the creepy, bitey, chewy little devils.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The creatures from hell and the supreme fight between good and evil are deliciously brought out in this book. Koontz is excellent in the good versus evil game, but the portrayal of voodoo as the cement of all religions and the insight into the branches of voodooism are worthwhile things to know, I think. It earns five stars from the incessant pounding of the plot and the combination of horror, drama, humour, and romance. This is one of Koontz' first novels, published under another name and another title back in the day, but Berkley put out this one as "Darkfall" under Koontz' name in 2007.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I picked this up on a whim, just to try something different. I thought it was a very enjoyable listen. The narrator was good too. My only complain would be that it felt a little rushed in places. All in all, well worth a listen.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A much better read than the last Koontz book I picked up and filled to the brim with knowledge of ancient voodoo legends that have now come to the modern world to kill members of a crime family that have brought misfortune to a voodoo practitioner. Two cops find the bodies of mobsters violently attacked, and begin to wonder if something supernatural is at work.I had some problems with the way that magic/voodoo was presented here, but Darkfall was still a good read. It gives me hope that I can expect another good book from Koontz.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Of all the Koontz books I've ever read, this one has always remained my favorite. Perhaps because the whole voodoo-demon concept made for a spooky, thrilling tale. Perhaps because Jack was such a likable character. In any case, I've read this several times -- which is well outside the norm with this author. One gripe I do have, though, is the characterizations of Jack's two kids. I found their points of view too childish, unrealistically so.
