About this audiobook

The New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestselling novel that launches Bybee’s popular Weekday Brides series

A wife by Wednesday…a love for a lifetime

Blake Harrison:
Rich, titled, and charming…and in need of a wife by Wednesday. Blake turns to Sam Elliot, who isn’t the businessman he expected. Instead, Blake is faced with Samantha Elliot, beautiful and feisty with a voice men call 1-900 numbers to hear.

Samantha Elliot:
Owner of matchmaking firm Alliance and not on the marital menu…that is, until Blake offers her ten million dollars for a one-year contract. And there’s nothing indecent about this proposal. The money will really help with her family’s medical bills. All Samantha will need to do is keep her attraction to her new husband to herself and avoid his bed.

But Blake’s toe-curling kisses and sexy charm prove too difficult for Sam to resist. It was a marriage contract that planned for everything…except falling in love.

As much as the marriage of convenience is one of my favourite tropes, I rarely like it in contemporary romances. In most of them the reason to get married is poor and unbelievable. So my expectations regarding Wife by Wednesday weren't big. I'm really glad I was wrong and I was positively surprised.

I liked the main characters. Samantha is a a strong heroine who knows what she wants. And I liked the softer spot in Blake which is not so usually in the books written during the last few years. I had no problem with finding passion and feelings between them. Also the reason they get married and their expectations are quite credible. Blake needs to get married to meet his fathers will and Samantha needs money to care for her sister.

The reason for a break-up is also quite convincing. In my opinion Samantha has a right to feel betrayed after discovering the thing with condoms. I can understand her anger and her wish to leave everything including Blake for a while. I'm also glad that the separation of Samantha and Blake isn't long and that they explain everything quite quickly. I hate when things like that drags on because of the lack of communication.

I'm giving this book 3.5 and adding the next book in the series to my tbr list.

Wife by Wednesday is a billionaire baby story that feels realistic and believable with characters you feel like you would meet in real life. I wasn't sure what I wanted to rate it for a review. I decided on a 4-star rating for a few reasons. I'm going to get into the reasons shortly. The reason I decided to pick up this book other than the pretty cover is that I have seen it rated so high on Amazon. At the time of this post, the book has 1653 reviews with an average of 4.3. The other reason is that I saw it listed as a Kindle Unlimited book that had Audible along with it. I haven't listened to a book in some time and I really wanted to especially with how busy I have been preparing for my friends to come to visit.

The characters are both strong willed individuals who are completely honest and up front with each other. They have an easy-going sense of humor and their relationship feels like it builds off a friendship first. They both have so many similarities and it didn't feel like it was forced writing similarities. It just felt like a normal flow because two people you would meet on the street. They make their marriage contract and come up with their plan to meet their mutual end goal and they hit some bumps along the way. Samantha and Blake feel very real when it comes to their personalities and having emotions that feel natural. That was key to me.

The backstory here is Samantha runs a company called Alliance which is a matchmaking company that pairs people up with similar goals. Think of it as pairing people so they won't be lonely and to enjoy a pleasant company of another people Something your business people that don't have time for much would use. Blake wants Samantha to be his temporary wife and she agrees because it so she wouldn't have to worry about the cost of her disabled sister's care. Blake is a Duke who has to marry before his 36th birthday or he does not receive his inheritance. Spoiler alert: he also has to make his wife pregnant according to his father's addendum in his will. So this marriage of convenience turns into an "oh shit I have to make an Heir with my contract wife". Thankfully they had already begun to build their strong friendship. Their attraction can't be avoided and they are intimate and you know how it goes from here.

On the one hand it was a predictable romance novel. But on the other hand it was well written and was very fun.

Blake Harrison needs a wife and he needs one now. Or by Wednesday, the latest. With his father having passed away, a sizable portion of his estate is due to go towards his cousin if he doesn’t meet the demands of his father’s will. Blake is intent on doing everything within his power to make sure that this doesn’t happen.Mind you, he doesn’t need the money. He’s a self-made millionaire, you see. Yet he’s intent on keeping what has always been rightfully his.Deciding to acquire the services of Alliance, a matchmaking firm that will ensure he’ll find someone who will help him with what he needs, he’s unprepared for Sam. He’d thought he’d be working with a man in having his demands met. Instead, he’s presented with a voluptuous beauty that butts head with him at every turn and delivers honesty over things that leaves him breathless.Sam agrees to his requests, unable to deny that she needs the money to continue taking care of her sister. While she does her best to guard her heart from being hurt by someone else, she also finds it hard to deny that she’s falling for Blake’s easy-going manner and his smooth, suave charms. So much so, that she’s unable to resist him for long.Catherine’s book is quite delightful. It’s very fast-paced and keeps a person glued to the pages. It really does. I enjoyed every minute of it and recommend the book to others for reading.
