About this audiobook

Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum and Trenton vice cop Joe Morelli join forces to find the madman killer who shot and barbecued the youngest son of international black-market arms dealer Alexander Ramos.

Carlos Manoso, street name Ranger, is caught on video just minutes before the crime occurs. He's at the scene, he's with the victim, and he's the number-one suspect. Ranger is former special forces turned soldier of fortune. He has a blue-chip stock portfolio and no known address. He moves in mysterious circles. He's Stephanie's mentor--the man who taught her everything she knows about fugitive apprehension. And he's more than her friend.

Now he's the hunted and Stephanie's the hunter, and it's time for her to test her skills against the master. But if she does catch him...what then? Can she bring herself to turn him in?

Plus there are other things keeping Stephanie awake at night. Her maternal grandmother has set up housekeeping in Stephanie's apartment, a homicidal maniac has selected Stephanie as his next victim, her love life is in the toilet, she's adopted a dog with an eating disorder, and she can't button the top snap on her Levi's.

Experience the world of Plum--in Janet Evanovich's new thriller. It's surreal, it's frenetic, it's incendiary. Hot Six. It's the best yet.

I love this series, make no mistake! But the narrator for this book and book 5 was terrible. CJ Critt was the best personification of Stephanie Plum, I wish she could have done the entire series. Lorelei King isn't great either, but better than Debi Mazar for sure.

I love this series!! But, have to say this narrator is awful!! Almost makes me not want to listen. The series is the only thing keeping me hanging on. I am sure there are a lot of better narrators out there!!!

Once again another great addition to the series. Lord help them all Grandma Mazur now has a drivers license. Morellie and Stephanie are getting closer, sure wondering what is going to happen there. Between finding dead bodies, capturing her FTA's and her new dog Bob this was another great book in the series.

3.5 stars. Still entertaining and suspenseful, and I enjoyed Ranger's larger role in this one. But organized crime confuses me, and I'm still not entirely clear as to some motives in the story.

This series is so much fun to read. I laughed out loud many times. When Homer Ramos is killed and then the building set on fire, Ranger is caught on camera in the vicinity. Heis charged and then he disappeared. Stephanie Plum, bounty hunter extraordinaire, is set out to find him. With Joe Morelli and the rest of the crew, of course. When grandma can't take the remarks of Stephanie's dad anymore, she moves into Stephanie's apartment. It's great as far as meals, but puts a damper on the rest of Stephanie's life. While looking for Ranger, Stephanie gets too involved with the Ramos family. Joe can't handle her constantly putting herself in danger. Can their relationship last?I so recommend these books to everyone who likes to smile.

Ranger has skipped out on his bail and is suspected in the murder of a local gun runner. While Stephanie won't take Ranger's case, everyone is convinced she knows where he is. And they're not really wrong as Ranger has Stephanie doing favours for him as he tries to figure out what's going on with the murder victim's clan. Meanwhile, Grandma Mazur has moved in with Stephanie, which puts a pretty big wrench in her plans to get together with Joe Morelli. The Stephanie Plum mysteries might be forumlaic, but the formula is utterly comforting. The mystery is decent, Grandma Mazur continues to say ridiculous things that crack me up, and Stephanie has plenty of flirtation with both Joe and Ranger. I space out my reading of this series and dipping back into it is always enjoyable as a result.

This time, Ranger is the one being hunted. A rookie cop arrested Ranger for carrying a concealed weapon without a license. Everyone knows to let Ranger do his own thing only the rookie didn't get the memo. Ranger gets into further trouble when he is seen on surveillance camera entering a building with a man who is later found with a bullet hole in his head and partially burned. Looks like an open and shut case because everyone knows Ranger is not above killing people.Every time we meet up with Stephanie Plum you can bet a destroyed vehicle or two or three will be in her wake. This time the nest one is a Rollswagon, part old fashioned Volkswagen Beetle and part Rolls Royce. One hundred percent vintage. Stephanie doesn't have it for more than an hour before she's attacked by someone driving a Crown Vic. What else is new? She bumbles her way through cases, same as ever or as she says, "Then you have to pee and you miss a double homicide" (p 77). All the usual characters are still around: Vinnie, Lula, Connie, Joe, even Grandmas Mazur who still frequents wakes and funerals for kicks and is now going for her own driver's license. The bad guys are still ransacking Stephanie's apartment while her hamster, Rex, runs frantically on his exercise wheel. The problem with reading the Stephanie Plum series back to back to back is that the plot formula becomes a schtick. Stephanie is a food motivated, bumbling beginner bounty hunter, who always gets her man. Plot twist: Stephanie inherits a dog and things heat up with Morelli and Ranger.

I have read all of the Stephanie Plum novels so far and I just love these books. They are a very easy read and are something to read when you just wanna relax after a long day. They are just so humorous and I love all the characters, especially Grandma Mazur. It has a little bit of everything thrown in, while still being lighthearted.

I would recommend these books to anybody.

Episode Six in the Stephanie Plum series has our charmingly inept bounty hunter on the trail of her mentor, and man of hot dreams, Ranger. But Ranger is mixed up in a pretty dicey situation and two thugs are on Steph’s trail, hoping she’ll lead them to Ranger. Bad enough, but Grandma Mazur has moved in, and Steph’s been saddled with the dog from hell, Bob.This is possibly the funniest of the books in the series that I’ve read. I first read this in about March 2003, and I remember clearly reading in the cafeteria during my lunch break and bursting out in laughter loud enough to have people several tables away look up to see what was going on. It’s the scene where Bob is kidnapped by the two thugs … just after he’s eaten two boxes of Grandma Mazur’s prunes (box and contents). Good Boy, Bob! Update: Oct 2020: I’m re-reading many of these now for a team challenge. But they’re also a great distraction from the serious issues facing our country right now.

I am enjoying this series. I am finding myself laughing at Stephanie and Lula. This book is about Ranger being on the run and having a bounty out for him. Vinnie asks Stephanie to bring him in because he has skipped. Stephanie won't do it. Stephanie is being followed by two guys and Joyce Bernhardt. The trouble Stephanie gets into trying to stay away from both of them. They are both looking for Ranger. Ranger is one you cannot find if he doesn't want to be found.Stephanie and Joe are still at it. And yet there is tension between Stephanie and Ranger. I love the interactions between all of the characters. I will be reading number Seven next!

Another fun mystery from Evanovich. In this one Ranger is the FTA. A local gun runner was found inside a burned building and Ranger was the last one to be seen at the scene of the crime. Ranger we all know is going to be a hard one to catch. Full of what we've come to expect from a Stephanie Plum novel, her car gets destroyed again. A few of the fun character that are thrown in are Mooner, the Dealer and we meet Bob the dog in this one. Fun quick read.

Stephanie Plum is the ultimate character, dealing with her grandma, Ranger skipping bail, dog ownership, and more. This book made me laugh and smile. Didn't want to put it down. Full of action and comedy, Hot Six is a must read.

BOTTOM-LINE:Plum vs. Ranger…talk about a mismatch.PLOT OR PREMISE:Plum's got her latest assignment, no problem. She just has to bring in Ranger, a suspect in the death of a wanna-be gangster, the son of an arms dealer..WHAT I LIKED:As with most things Plum, there's a lot going on … Grandma has moved in, she gets stuck babysitting a wild dog, and there's a killer running around who likes Stephanie. Plus we get to see an old high school pal, Moon Man, who is frequently fun since the elevator doesn't all the way to the top floors..WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE:The whole sub-story with gun-runners and missing money, and Ranger being "wanted" gets a little ridiculous after awhile..DISCLOSURE:I received no compensation, not even a free copy, in exchange for this review. I am not personal friends with the author, nor do I follow her on social media.

This is book number six in Evanovich's series about yet-to-master-her-job bounty hunter Stephanie Plum, and anyone who's read this far into the series will undoubtedly get precisely what they expect from this installment. There's a rather thin plot -- this time featuring Stephanie's bounty-hunting comrade and sometime lust object Ranger being suspected of a murder -- that's wrapped up pretty quickly at the end, but not before lots of wacky hijinks occur. They're mostly the same kinds of hijinks that always occur, but I find that, so far, at least, I'm not minding the formulaic nature of these books at all, because they're just so gosh-darned fun. Heck, the running joke about cars constantly being destroyed by, because of, or around Stephanie started out funny, got a bit old after a couple of volumes, and then just kept going until it got funny again.I wasn't super-thrilled with the one minor character who's a little bit of a wacky cultural stereotype. Or with the love triangle stuff, because, seriously, why does there always have to be a love triangle? But the former wasn't too bad, and the latter was mercifully low-key as such things go, and neither kept me from enjoying this for the ridiculous, thoroughly entertaining brain candy that it is.

Bounty Hunter Stephanie Plum is shocked when told the next FTA her boss wants her to bring in is Ranger, her mentor that she’s sometimes worked with. She turns it down knowing she wouldn’t stand a chance. But then Ranger also becomes a person of interest when a Greek mob boss’ son is killed right after Ranger is caught on camera seeing him. Now others are looking for Ranger and following Stephanie, believing she knows where he is. And Ranger enlists her aid.If that’s not enough, Grandma Mazur decides to move out of her daughter’s house and in with Stephanie, and Bob, a Golden Retriever is foisted off on her. There are plenty of laughs and sexual tension and frustration in this story that branches off into so many different directions. I’ve been rereading some of my favorites and many of them involve working with or for Ranger. And it’s funny to see how tough he is and so many people afraid of him, and yet trying to force Stephanie to obey him for her own safety is something he can’t seem to accomplish. If you read these books expecting to see much growth in Stephanie’s character or even her skills getting better over time, well that’s an incredibly slow process that you might not even realize is happening. And don’t expect her to make a permanent decision between Joe and Ranger as that would end the series. Just look at these stories as a few hours of escaping reality with some laughs from old favorites, and enjoy.

Oh, Morelli... I just needed to express that. I was only going to give this book four stars until that decision was swayed in the end by said individual. And I'll add that I really don't think I would mind it much if a muscular Italian Jersey cop called me "cupcake"...

Stephanie Plum has very quickly turned into one of my favourite fictional characters. The things that her and Lula get into together and her romances with both Ranger and Morelli make these books hilarious. And this one is no different. Grandma Mazur took the (pineapple upside) cake for favourite character in this one though.

I don't know if this book was about a mystery or about the weird characters and situations Stephanie finds herself in. Same sort of things as in the last five books: colorful characters, weird situations, postponed sex, romantic triangle, difficulties with FTAs but she finally brings 'em in, destroyed cars, grandma, people living with her uninvited....

Still, it was a pretty easy and fun read.

One of my favorites! Love the Stephanie Plum series - Ranger is hot and sexy! (but Joe is still my main man)!

Why is it so hard for Stephanie to stay out of major, life threatening trouble? Stephanie is off on more bounty hunter jobs; one is to find a wife abuser who has skipped out on court appearing and he is not willing to cooperate in any way shape or form with Stephanie. Soon he is threatening her life and is evading her in every way possible. Will she ever catch him and not get hurt in the mean time? Also, she has heard shocking news...Ranger is being looked for, but not in a seeking his services way, but a he skipped out on his bail kind of way and Stephanie is bound and determined to find out what he is running from or trying to figure out and get to the bottom of why he is suspected of murder in the first placed. Soon Stephanie finds out that Ranger may be getting misjudged here and is now determined to prove he is innocent, no matter what that takes. The only one against her helping Ranger and risking her life to do it?...Joe Morelli, her on again off again cop boyfriend. Stephanie also finds herself with a couple new roommates, who she is undecided on if she likes or not yet. Can she figure all this out, catch her man for bounty hunting, get her living arrangements figured out, and dissect her feelings for Ranger and Joe all without getting hurt or killed? Who is Ranger really?Hot doesn't even start to describe this book, more like sizzling or boiling! Once again Evanovich entices readers with adventure, suspense, mystery, mayhem, love triangles, and a crazy set of characters. Her books are like Pringles potato chips, "once you pop, you can't stop". You just can't stop reading once you pop open that cover to the wonderfully written pages inside. Before you know it, you are over 100 pages in and saying, just one more chapter...until there are no more chapters. Then you are saying, one more chapter...in the next book. I just love this series and can't get enough of it! It's writing, plot, characters...they all are phenomenal and so much fun to read. I just love the quick and witty humor and the details in the writing that make you laugh out loud as you picture them happening. I haven't found any characters, in any other books, that are as thrilling to me as Stephanie Plum and her family and friends. This book works as a stand alone or as a great continuation in the series if you have read all the previous books. This is a book that just happens to be part of a series, not a book that has to be part of a series. That's what makes it so great! This book has so much happen in it and ends in such a way that makes you want to read on in the series just to see what Stephanie gets into next. I look forward to reading on to see what happens in the Plum family and the bounty hunting business! This is a great book, written by a fantastic author, you will only be sorry you didn't read it sooner. Very highly recommend!!!5/5 Stars!!

Always good for a laugh and a bit of a light-hearted read - although they do tend to build to relatively dramatic climaxes. Fun, fast-paced, a little bit raunchy and a good, quick read. Stephanie Plum undergoes another comedy of errors as she sets out to bring in her man - or not, as the case may be.

I definitely enjoyed this one, probably because Ranger was wanted for murder (although I am reluctantly starting to like Ranger a little bit). This one seemed to be one of the funniest of the series. Between Stephanie's grandma moving in with her, two inept mob henchmen following her, and Stephanie ending up with a dog that eats everything I was constantly laughing. I loved the ending between Morelli and Stephanie and can't wait to see what happens between them next.

People have been recommending the Stephanie Plum books to me for ages. I think because it is such a long series - I jest always felt kind of overwhelmed by starting at the beginning or picking a random place to start. Luckily I was listening to a podcast and they happened to discuss exactly this topic. They suggest #6 as a good starting point. So I picked it up and it was pretty much everything I hoped it would be. It was breezy, humorous and a fast read. I haven't read much about these novels - but as a longtime reader of the Kinsey Milhone series there must be so many people who compare the two. For me this was so reminiscent in tone - but just a tiny bit edgier with language and references to sex. It is always a bit strange reading things that were published pre-9/11. There are some references here that I believe were meant in a very joking manner that just are a bit uncomfortable now.I enjoyed it - I will definitely read more - I love having go-to easy light reading when I am in the mood for it.

In this one Ranger gets accused of killing the son of a major gun dealer. Ranger enlists Stephanie’s help in order to gather enough evidence to prove his innocence. Of course, Stephanie botches the whole expedition and ends up endangering herself. She also ends up acquiring Grandma Mazur as roommate and a dog with an eating disorder named Bob.

By now this series is a bit too formulaic but because of the humor in them I’ve kept reading them. Not to mention Morelli and Ranger are hotties and I like the chemistry they have with Stephanie. Unfortunately, Evanovich seems to be running out of steam because this one was not as funny as the previous one I’ve read. I’m hoping that the humor picks up again in the next one.

Because everyone needs a little smutty brain fluff now and then. Some pretty comic touches here. I definitely see touches of I Love Lucy and The Three Stooges. She writes so much comedy and sexy stuff that you forget you have a puzzle to solve and just go along for the ride.
