About this audiobook

Unconfirmed accounts of a group of Araluen warriors--tales of adventure, battle, and triumph over evil--have spread for centuries throughout the known world. Most notable is a clan shrouded in mystery, phantom warriors known as the Rangers. Only now, centuries after these men and women walked the earth, do we have confirmation of their existence. Behold The Lost Stories.

Trish Purnell-Webb is an Australian clinical psychologist who became the first certified Gottman therapist in Australia in 2013. She then continued her training to become the first master trainer and consultant for the Gottman Institute in Australia in 2015. She has been in private practise as a psychologist since 1997 after a twenty-year career in organisational training and development in both government and corporate organisations while also raising three children with the help of her husband, Mark. Trish has always been fascinated by the impact relationships have on our sense of well-being and satisfaction, whether they are work relationships or intimate relationships. In her work providing executive coaching to senior members of organisations throughout Australia, she came to understand that intimate relationships had a profound effect on an individual’s ability to perform in life. This led her to explore the question “How can we help people have more successful relationships?” It also led her to the research work of John and Julie Gottman, and her fate was sealed. Since 2009, Trish has focussed on working with couples both in her private practise in Burleigh Heads, Queensland, Australia, and on training therapists throughout Australia, New Zealand, and Asia to become more effective in successfully working with couples. Along with her business partner, John, Trish also runs couple workshops across Australia and New Zealand using the evidenced-based Art and Science of Love Couples Workshop developed by John and Julie Gottman. Trish conceived of this book as a resource for couples to use as a relapse prevention tool after they complete either a workshop or couples therapy with Gottman-trained therapists. Trish still lives on the Gold Coast with her husband of forty-one years and is the proud grandmother of five beautiful grandchildren to whom she devotes much of her time. John Flanagan is a mental health accredited social worker in private practise, completing his bachelor’s of social work in 1988 and later a master’s in gestalt therapy. He was the first social worker to become a certified Gottman therapist in Australia in 2015, and he became the second master trainer and consultant in 2019. John has had an extensive history in direct service delivery with couples, families, and young people, as well as in organisational development and training. He has developed a practise that utilises a range of experiential therapies combining these approaches in his work style. John has also completed his Certificate IV in workplace training and assessment and has delivered a broad range of training, both accredited and non-accredited. John knows the incredible value in attending to relationships, as well as the importance of how they are formed, maintained and developed. In over thirty years of working within complex environments and relationships, he has developed a strong speciality in understanding and guiding complex interactions and relationships. He has provided training to many individuals and human service organisations in Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and the United States about creating positive work cultures, managing challenging clients, resilience, and communication. Over the last twenty years, John has provided a range of psycho-educational group programs to Australian veterans and their families in areas such as trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety, and resilience.

I was really excited to hear that this book was coming out! It ties a lot of ends up about Halt and Will and everyone else. I like the point of view of how a group of archeologists find the stories and go through about the Rangers. It's a really neat take on the book.

Wonderful stories that fill in some of the gaps in and between the books in the series. The series is wrapped up in an agreeably satisfying way. Lord how I cried in the story about Tug! I loved reading this whole series and am delighted that he's remaining this this world for his next series.

It took me quiet a while to finish this book. Usually it doesn't take me that long to finish a Flanagan book, but this was the first book of short stories. I was able to put it down, and not held onto the ongoing plot. I enjoyed how Flanagan gave the readers an introduction, and a response to his readers queries through the short stories. I wonder if he will do the same for the next series?

I was a bit hesitant about reading this book because it was a collection of short stories instead of full-length novel, and I somehow assumed that meant it wouldn't be as engaging as John Flanagan's other works. I couldn't have been more wrong. Flanagan does an outstanding job with writing short stories that quickly grasp readers' attention, contain his characteristic non-stop action and give key insights into the main characters' lives, and he even creates some laugh-out-loud scenes along the way. Reading this book was definitely time well spent!

As all of Flanagan's books, this is just amazing for young boys who want adventure and humor and animals and a bit of battles and a few lessons (of course they aren't going to pay attention to how much faster a horse would move if some of them walked rather than rode in the cart. They're thieves--they're lazy!) While it may be confusing for those who haven't read the rest of the series, it is a great addition for those who have.

This book contains nine stories and a fragment. The first story has Halt telling Will about Will's parentage and the little he knows about his family. The second story gives Gilan star billing as he investigates some missing money and a bandit who is plaguing the area. The third story has Will and Alyss teaming up to find a band of Roamers and recover Will's missing dog.The next story has Will and Halt trying to find some Wreckers before they succeed is grounding more ships. Will is also in the midst of writing his speech for Horace and Evanlyn's wedding and is trying to fit in every big word he has ever heard. Dinner for Five stars Jenny who wants to prepare a nice dinner for her Gilan but is interrupted by some outlaws who robbed the silversmith and are looking for a place to lay low until the chase passes them by. Jenny, being an excellent cook, makes unconventional use of a leg of lamb. The next story takes place at Horace and Evanlyn's wedding when Will almost misses his dance with Alyss as he is busy stopping assassins from killing Evanlyn. The seventh story in the book tells about how Crowley and Halt meet and become friends. It gives some hints about Halt's background. The Wolf tells the story of an injured wolf and how Will and Tug hunt for him. It also tells what happens when it is time for a Ranger's horse to be retired. I loved the close relationship between Will and Tug.The final story in the book tells about Will and Alyss's wedding day.All of the stories were great because they gave more insight into the characters and because they filled some of details that didn't fit into the main stories.

The 10th book in the Ranger's Apprentice series, The Emperor of Nihon-Ja, just seemed to end. I felt there was no closure on my journey with these characters I have come to love. Thankfully, Flanagan gave us the Lost Stories. These short stories will give fans of the series the closure they need. Be warned: many tears will be shed!
