About this audiobook

Breaking rules and breaking hearts.

Free-spirited Chloe lives life on the edge. Unlike her soon-to-be married sisters, she isn't ready to settle into a quiet life running their family's newly renovated inn. But soon her love of trouble – and trouble with love – draws the attention of the very stern, very sexy sheriff who'd like nothing better than to tame her wild ways.

Suddenly Chloe can't take a misstep without the sheriff hot on her heels. His rugged swagger and his enigmatic smile are enough to make a girl beg to be handcuffed. For the first time, instead of avoiding the law, Chloe dreams of surrender. Can this rebel find a way to keep the peace with the straitlaced sheriff? Or will Chloe's colorful past keep her from a love that lasts...and the safe haven she truly wants in a town called Lucky Harbor?

Chloe and Sawyer. What a great read. Good Chemistry, some humour, even got a bit teary at one point. I think this is a wonderful series. I am looking forward to the next book.

The author writes such perfectly flawed characters, the perfect balance of dysfunctional and vulnerable.

This was simply so sweet and sexy. My favorite kind of love story is one where I see it grow and build so sweetly yet so deeply. Sawyer was divine and Chloe was sassy. These two were combustible. Loved it.

Chloe and Sawyer have been at odds with each other since her arrival at Lucky Harbor. She's the wild child of the three sisters and has been escorted home by the local sheriff on more than one occasion. Now that the B & B is doing well and business is expending, Chloe is growing up...and the spark of chemistry between her and Sawyer is starting to burn. I really enjoyed this installment and there were some really great scenes: The girls getting "caught" in the mud pits, Sawyer and Chloe painting his house, and the last scene between Lance and Chloe was heartbreaking. They are such good friends, but his time on this earth is short because of his CF. I liked how the author brought two fiercely independent, but lonely people, together. They really are a perfect match for each other. Loved it!

Another enjoyable book in this series with heart-felt characters, humor and action that moves right along. It did a good job of developing the relationship between a couple who each felt alone even with loving family and friends. Sheriff Sawyer always seems to be finding Chloe in some kind of trouble.

I am slowly working my wsy through the Lucky Harbor novels. I must say that I enjoyed this one even more than the first two. I think Chloe and Sawyer are my favorite couple. It was a very enjoyable read. Can't wait to read the next one!

Okay, I think this is my favorite book so far in the series. I was really anxious to read Chloe's story and then after all the hints we got from the previous books about her relationship with Sawyer, things just got a lot more exciting. They were awesome together! This book was such a fun read, just as the others, but I think Chloe put a little more spunk to it. Sawyer with all his alpha silent type was just the icing on the cake. Great to have some more action too involving the main duo. The writing was as relaxing as the story and those lovely characters that we learned to love so much.

    SO much to love here.

Sawyer's a tall, powerful mountain of a man, and a sheriff to boot, polar-opposite of petite Wild Child Chloe - or is he? Digging down, they both have abandonment issues - her by the father she never knew, not even his name, and Sawyer by his mother, and currently, his aging and irascible father. One thing I really liked about this is the author DIDN'T bring Chloe's father or Sawyer's mother out of the woodwork to make it a fairy tale ending, everyone joining hands to sing around the campfire (though there WAS a campfire).

Chloe's asthma IS an issue they both have to deal with. Madly attracted to one another, they have hot steamy sex, but what Sawyer doesn't realize until too late is how every serious her asthma is.

I had a little problem with the unprotected sex/Chloe being on the pill here. It was well established in the other two books that she has never been able to pull off sex with a partner without having a serious asthma attack, and it also discussed here - so, why would Chloe be on the pill? I do like that this was at least mentioned BEFORE naked parts joined up, but even given that, would like to have "heard" some sexual history/screening discussion after the first impulsive attempt at sex.

I really liked that Sawyer was BUSY, as a small town cop, with a variety of things, some more mundane, like helping an old lady fix her smoke alarm, than others. His life was portrayed as neither a cakewalk nor one homicide or drug deal after another. I liked that Chloe matured considerably, AND that a backstory was given for her interest/skill at homemade spa products. I liked that Lucille continued to chronicle events on the town's FaceBook page.

I would've liked for the character Mia, introduced in the last book, to make at least an off-screen appearance from time to time, especially since it was mentioned she and her aunt Chloe really connected. A text or an email, a mention as to whether she was coming for her parents' upcoming wedding.

All in all, great book, I will be returning to Lucky Harbor as often as I can, and am happy that Chloe too found and could even say, love.

Jill once again proves why she's my fave contemporary romance author. I love her writing style, I love her characters, and I love her settings. Chloe and Sawyer, plopped in Lucky Harbor, weren't an exception. Great storyline, and I loved this couple so much!

I'm intrigued to see where book 4 takes us...

Just as good as the first two. I was concerned about the bad girl and the good man getting together, but the arc was believeable. The ending did seem rushed and kind of Ta Dah-ish, but enjoyable.

I'm not gonna lie, I was nervous going into this book. I didn't connect with Chloe in the previous books. I was even kind of annoyed with her.

But, as always, Shalvis delivered. I should learn to have more faith.

The only bad thing about this book was that it had to end. Some may feel that the last little bit before the ending took a bit of a turn, but I'm not one of them. With each of the first two books in the series I thought that I wouldn't want to leave that pairing for the next one -- and that was especially so when moving on to Chloe and Sawyer. But it took all of two pages for me to change my mind and get on the C/S train. This also had the benefit of one of the best lines I've read in recent memory: "He grinned, and she sighed. One hundred thousand sperm and *he'd* been the fastest." (Obviously not about Sawyer.) I know there are more books in the Lucky Harbor series and I know that I'll fall in love with each and every one of them. But for now I'm going to savor the stories of the three sisters -- and put all three books on my Have To Buy The Hard Copy list.

Head Over Heels by Jill ShalvisLove the quotes in the recipe box that their mom had started in previous book and thegirls have kept up in each of their books.Chloe, the wild one, is always up to something. She's involved with Lance who has CFand lives on the edge. The local sheriff always seems to be right there when she getshome. He's not yet arrested her as he doesn't want to bring bad attention to the B&B hersisters are running. Her sisters are almost married to his best friend and his brother.A neighbor wants to fight pit bull vs pit bull and have wagers. She and Lance say it's notright to make dogs harm themselves to death so they crossed the wire fence to let dogs out.She got cut up really bad and ended up having to go to the ER to get fixed up.Find it very interesting to learn of the different natural products you can mix to help withspa treatment areas: frizzy hair, dry skin, etcTerror strikes when she gets anonymous heavy breather phone calls. She tries to win over her sisters by talking about how she'd turn one room of the inn into aspa, this way she'd NOT have to leave to do her treatments at hotels.I like Chloe's iphone app the magic 8 ball where you ask it a yes or no question. They allhave fun with it.She's been spending a lot of time with Sawyer, helping paint his house, bringing him lunch, etc.Drug deals, runaway bride, kidnapping, revenge and mud springs all lead us to the finale. What a really nice treat at the end.

HEAD OVER HEELS is the third in a trilogy of linked romances set in a small town on the Washington coast called Lucky Harbor. It can stand alone but probably shouldn't - and I say this because I just read it without having picked up either of the earlier books, and I think that's part of why HEAD OVER HEELS lacked emotional impact for me. The series is about three sisters who hook up, one by one, with a set of three best-friend guys while they renovate an old B&B. So even though HEAD OVER HEELS has its own story with its own couple, it feels a lot like a victory lap. The two happy couples ooze contentment all over the place, they meddle with Chloe and Sawyer's relationship - frequently threatening Sawyer with bodily harm if he dares to hurt Chloe - and the B&B is running pretty smoothly.

The romance is kind of an opposites attract dealie, with straight-arrow cop Sawyer paired with free-spirit Chloe. Everybody acts as though Chloe is a wild child but she's really not. I mean, she makes a living doing specialty spa treatments at luxury four and five star hotels. That's not a gig for flakes. She travels to reach these spas, which her sisters call "taking off on a whim", for example. She does pull a couple of so-called crazy stunts, rescuing dogs slated for a fight, which is kind of fringe and risky, and her car breaks down at a key moment, which may indicate a lack of proper maintenance but...Chloe's reputation is exaggerated.

I understood why Chloe was so hurt to see people think less of her. I didn't understand why Sawyer seemed convinced that Chloe was a poor match for him, that she'd drag him back to the bad old days of his teenage years when he was a thug. Getting drunk and making trouble is in a different league from saving a few pitbulls. Up almost to the very end of the novel Sawyer keeps telling Chloe she's a bad influence on him and I just didn't get it.

But my biggest problem with HEAD OVER HEELS was the pacing. Chloe and Sawyer's relationship was static throughout almost the whole book. They acknowledge their attraction to one another, they act on it, and from that point forward they're in a holding pattern. They meet up often and each wonder where the relationship is going, if they want to get serious or keep it casual, wonder if the other person wants to get serious. On the one hand, it felt very real. When real people start a relationship that's what they think about and those thought processes continue for a period of time, until they make a solid commitment. On the other hand, there's a reason why I don't read books about real relationships. It's kind of boring.

It's not a bad book. It's cute and it's got some cute scenes. But, especially towards the end, I found myself skimming. The static feel of the romance mixed with Sawyer's wishy-washy feelings about Chloe didn't hook me, and I wasn't emotionally invested in the whole Lucky Harbor saga without having read the first two books.

Why I read it: I've been a Jill Shalvis fan for many years. I first read a story of hers in an anthology and after I glommed on her Blaze's from my local UBS until I had some money to buy her later works. I got this one from NetGalley. What it's about: This is Chloe's book. Maddie (Simply Irresistible), Tara (The Sweetest Thing) and Chloe are sisters who share the same mother but all have different fathers. They didn't grow up together and barely know each other. When their mother dies, they meet up at Lucky Harbor to find out they have inherited an inn. I'd recommend reading the series from the start (apart from anything else, they're all good) to understand the full story arc but the romance can certainly be read as a stand alone.Chloe is a "wild child" who is a trouble magnet. Sheriff Sawyer Thompson had a wild youth but sticks firmly to the straight and narrow. There are buckets of chemistry between the two but both wonder if it could really go anywhere - they are too different and a fling could cause problems as Sawyer is best friends with Jax (Maddie's fiance) and Ford (Tara's SO).What I thought (aka What worked for me and what didn't): This is a light, sexy, fun read with a hot Sheriff hero and a ballsy but vulnerable heroine. If I were to equate this book with food I would equate it to popcorn (if I liked popcorn) - I dive into it and then I can't stop reading. It's easy to read - while it's not without depth it doesn't tax the brain. Before you know it, I've devoured the whole book. Except, I don't feel sick or regretful afterward (which I may do if it was popcorn - if I liked popcorn). It would be like if popcorn was healthy or something and after devouring a whole bowl of it, I felt happy and satisfied. So, not really like popcorn at all.... :PThere is some depth to the story - one of the secondary characters (Lance) has Cystic Fibrosis. As Chloe's best friend, he has a fair share of page time and even a little bit of a secondary romance himself. Chloe has asthma which is quite serious. She can't run or do anything too strenuous - having sex means using the inhaler at the least and a trip to the emergency room at best. Emotional stress bring on asthma attacks too. I liked that the asthma didn't magically go away - Chloe and Sawyer had to deal with it. Sawyer does research and he takes things slooow *sigh* so Chloe doesn't get too worked up.The conflict between the two was largely about how Chloe was too wild for Sawyer and Sawyer was too uptight for Chloe and if they got together it would be destined to end badly and therefore cause grief in the family given the relationships between the sisters and Sawyer's best friends. As conflicts go, it was fairly light but it was nevertheless believable. Both Chloe and Sawyer are reluctant to get involved but too attracted to stop. I liked that there wasn't anything huge stopping them from getting together but at the same time, it wasn't non existent either. I would have liked to have seen how Sawyer got from "she's no good for me" to "I love her and we're great together". I felt the shift was a bit abrupt and there was a lack of exposition there.Chloe isn't as wild as everyone thinks. I think the book does a great job of showing that Chloe, due to her unusual upbringing, is suspicious of "I love you" and the "stickability" of people. Her experience is that people don't stick and her expectations are very low. At the same time, she wants to have a home and a family, she's just scared to trust it when it appears. I've read reviews around the place which have criticised the book for Chloe's acceptance being linked to conformity. Certainly, there did seem to be a bit of that on the part of her sisters - they were disapproving of her "flightiness" and wanted her to settle down. But (and this was the most important for me), that wasn't the case with Sawyer. He did not require or want Chloe to change at all. He loved her as is. And, he understood her. In the end, I felt that if Chloe settled, she mainly did so for her own reasons. As she began to trust in her relationship with her sisters and feel at home in Lucky Harbor, she felt comfortable putting down roots. It felt very organic to me. I don't think Chloe's going to stop rescuing dogs from abusive owners or hang-gliding or other dangerous activities, but she'll do it from a home base and won't take off at the drop of a hat. There was substance cleverly hidden amongst the light and fun and it was a delight for me to read - like when I eat something which happens to be healthy but also unexpectedly tastes really good and which I happen to find I want at exactly that time. Best of all for me in a Jill Shalvis book, is the humour. I think Jill Shalvis writes guys and their interactions very believably and she usually makes me laugh - like here: Chloe was giving him a go-on gesture with her hand. "All I have left is my pants,, " he said. "Yes, please." "It's cold, Chloe." She tilted her head. "Are you worried about shrinkage?" Well, he was now.and Sawyer reached up and manually turned off the TV because a new episode was starting and if The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song got stuck in his head, he was going to have to kill himself. What else? It occurs to me that I have given the same grade to Head Over Heels as I did for The Black Hawk. When I thought about it it seemed somehow wrong. They are such different books even though they are both romance. But, if Head Over Heels is popcorn (except good for you), The Black Hawk is a rich dense dessert. They both absolutely have their place on the menu and, at the right time, the enjoyment of consuming both can be equally wonderful. I read Head Over Heels at exactly the right time I think. Grade: B A (very) slightly cut down version (for space reasons) of this review appeared in the December ARRA newsletter.

Reviewed by JoAnneReview copy provided by NetGalleyThis is the third book in the Lucky Harbor series and I am very glad it will not be the last. In Head Over Heels many of the dreams of Tara, Maddie and Chloe, three half sisters with the same mom but three different dads who started to connect as sisters after their mom died, are finally being fulfilled. This book was a quick and enjoyable read. I loved meeting up with characters I got to know and love from Simply Irresistible and The Sweetest Thing and that they were back in the forefront in this book. There was laughter, hope, arguments, tension - both sexual and otherwise - some anxious moments and tears along with several happily ever afters. There were many unexpected twists and turns to get you there along with a few predictable ones. The ebook that I read had an excerpt from book 4 which whet my appetite for the next story to take place in Lucky Harbor and I can't wait to read. I look forward to reading future books to be set in Lucky Harbor as well as other books not related to this series written by Shalvis, a new favorite author. Favorite Quote: Her image didn't answer, but there was something different about her. Dammit. She had the Maddie glow! Oh, God, this was bad. Falling for Sawyer would be a colossally stupid move. Sure, he wanted her. But she also drove him crazy. She wasn't right for him, and no matter what he'd said about appreciating her as is, there was no doubt in her mind-in order to become the woman Sawyer needed, she'd have to change. Already facing that very problem with her sisters, it felt too overwhelming for her to even go there. But it was like a damn song in her head all the same. Change, and you can have acceptance. Change, and you can catch a man. Change, and ... God, she was damned tired of that song.

MY THOUGHTSLOVED ITChloe is a free spirit whose love life leaves her wanting but it seems that she just wants the wrong guys. When the not-so-friendly local sheriff stops by for his morning coffee, she feels an instant attraction that she pushes away since she knows the guy is probably not right for her. She immediately knows that he might have feelings for her when he doesn't arrest her when she admits she broke into a yard to save two puppies from a life of fighting and at that point Chloe has my heart! The two keep meeting unexpectedly which it turns out are a bit planned by the other and the tension that develops between the two is so dynamic and well done that you will actually get angry that it takes them so long to finally get together and admit that they love each other. What keeps this book out of the normal love-hate relationship is that Chloe is a bit feisty yet has a problem admitting to herself that she is lovable. There is a bit of a mystery worked in her as well with a local boy convinced that they belong together and he has some secrets that put Chloe in a bit of danger. Much of the danger is because of Chloe's asthma which is also a point of humor for her. She always wants to know if the guy is "inhaler worthy" much like Seinfeld's Elaine wondering if a guy is "sponge-worthy". Stoic Sawyer, the Sheriff, is that perfect immovable man, seeming set in his ways and at first you think he is incapable of love and especially falling in love with someone like Chloe who is almost his polar opposite. It is kind of like a rock falling in love with a bird, but this works! This book is the third in the Lucky Harbor series and it can easily stand alone, but you will want to pick up the other two since the characters cross over into the other books and you get more of Chloe's story for background. Again, Shalvis writes a completely believed romance with real characters and dialogue that just shines. I am huge fan of witty remarks and this one has some real quote worthy gems. Each chapter starts out with a Chloe Quote and here are some of my favorites: If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried. Just when you think you have a handle on life, it breaks. Women don't like to admit their age, but men don't like to act theirs.

I have read this entire series and I think that this one is my favorite by far! It's the story of Chloe Traeger, the youngest of her three sisters who inherited a B&B and are now running it together. She was the only one of her sisters to be raised by their free spirited mother so Chloe has always been considered the "wild" child.Chloe really never had a true place to call home, until she came to Lucky Harbor, and she is starting to realize roots and family can be a good thing. It always seems that if there is trouble its going to find Chloe. She soon grabs the eye of the local sheriff, Sawyer Thompson. What's going to happen between the good sheriff, and the wild child? Your going to want to read this story and find out!Even though this is the third book in a series it can easily be read as a stand alone work, but I highly recommend the first two books in the series as well so that read Tara and Mattie's stories, which were great! The author introduced us to Chloe in the first two books and I have been totally anxious to read her story. She is such a free spirited person, who suffers from asthma. Because she is limited in by that she seems to push the envelope, trying to get the most out of life. Really though we get to see another side of her, a side that is vulnerable, who doesn't easily share her true feelings. I loved the relationship that developed between Chloe and Sawyer, the banter was great and the sexual tension was off the charts. He was the perfect love interest for Chloe though, whats the saying about opposites attracting? In addition to reading Chloe's story the author allows us to reconnect with Mattie andTara and the men in their lives, which was great. I also love the quirky characters that are part of the town of Lucky Harbor. Easily one of my all time favorite contemporary romance series. As soon as I picked up this book to read I was easily transported right back to Lucky Harbor. A series where the author blends together great characters, romance, with plenty of sexual tension, with a small town feel. I highly recommend this series!A complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
