I keep coming back to this series, even though I feel like it is incredibly repetitive. I liked the premise of this one - tormented, abused heroine - but about halfway in, I wound up just skimming to the end. Once the relationship between the hero and heroine settled, the story just didn't really hold my interest. And while I love the hot sex scenes, those got repetitive as well. (2.5 stars)

Tanner's Scheme was very good. I had no hopes for it considering my displeasure of the last two books, but I thoroughly enjoyed this. I really liked Tanner and Scheme, but Scheme was the winning factor in this story. I thought she was strong, loyal, fierce and protective when she needed to be. I really admired her desire to do the right thing concerning the breeds. I'm also glad that we found out who the spy was in this book and that the author didn't drag it out as a plot device for subsequent stories. The sex scenes were numerous and I did end of skimming the last few, but I'm happy to say that I will not give up on this series yet. 4.5 stars

Tanner has long been a book crush for me!! So happy to see him get his mate! I was sorta hoping for a menage with his twin but still a great book regardless. Very intriguing story-line. As with much of the breeds you have to disregard foreshadowing that never follows through!

One word to describe it: INTENSE! All the way.

I really got into this story. The aspect of double agents was exciting and I couldn't wait to get to the end. I'm very relieved in the mating this time that it wasn't what everyone suspected would happen with Tanner and Cabal. Even though, I did feel sympathy toward Cabal at the end of the book. I was also a little sad at the reveal of the spy within Sanctuary. It was disappointing. I am anxious to get to Cabal's story now.

    Synopsis:
Bengal breed Tanner Reynolds has been obsessed with Scheme Tallant for years, but she is the daughter of a high ranking member of the Genetics Council with a sadistic reputation of her own. With a spy sabotaging Sanctuary from within, Tanner seizes the opportunity to kidnap Scheme to get answers but things are not as they seem and Tanner’s vengeance must take a back seat to saving the life of the woman he hopes to claim as his mate.

    Review:
Saying that this series is complete trash is an understatement but it is, nonetheless, addictive trash. At least the story in this book is one of the better ones.

For once the intense bond and passionate chemistry between the leads is not based on the mating plot device that has characterized all of the relationships in the series so far. Tanner and Scheme have a basic connection and fall in love without the added impetus of the mating heat and this contributes significantly to the enjoyment of their romance.

Scheme is a great character – feisty, courageous, honest and strong willed. My only problem is with her ridiculous name. Tanner is not as domineering as some of the heroes in previous books, and his struggle with keeping his inner beast under control is an interesting aspect of his characterization. The point at which he ultimately fails to restrain himself is one of the highlights of the story as is the fact that he will do anything to keep Scheme safe even if it means giving her up. The voyeurism and Tanner’s tendency to share everything with his twin, Cabal, are a little icky but Cabal’s backstory is intriguing and I look forward to reading his book.

The identity of the spy at sanctuary is one of the most annoying aspect of the book. This subplot has been set up over several books and a number of theories had been formulating in my mind, but the ultimate resolution is sudden and the spy is not someone with an established character, which is one of my pet peeves.

As always, this installment in the Breeds series is hot and steamy, and not for the easily offended.

I am still completely amazed by how well Lora Leigh writes her stories, she is such a riveting author where her exciting stories just come to life; and and draws the reader into a whirlwind of passion, adventure and classick love stories that will pull at your heartstrings. the Characters: Tanner and Scheme are also deeply portrayed. Scheme has suffered greatly under the hands of her father and his minons. Scheme wants to do everything in her power to destroy him, but she knows she has to find evidence against him first, but when she is about to set her plan in motion, she is kidnapped by Tanner who at first believes her to be in league with her father. After all that he and his fellow breeds have suffered at the hands of her father, he wants revenge and justice. However upon learning the truth he goes about to protect her, no matter the cost. But Scheme doesn't know who she can really trust, but the more she spends in Tanner's arms, her will wavers and she starts to question whether or not she should let him into her life and her heart.I truly enjoyed reading Tanner's Story, it was definitely more on the thrilling side of things. Of course I love the plot, where Scheme hides things from Tanner even though she years to trust him and not knowing if she does will it be a mistake or the biggest reward of all. Tanner on the other hands, knows she lives in fear and desperation but also can smell the lies that she tells him, there is a powerful attraction between them, but at first Tanner doesn't believe she is his mate, but time will only tell. I think this is one of those that can be a re-read. Of course if you love shifter romances, and if you love Lora Leigh than you will fall in love with Tanner's Scheme, which is a enthralling love story from beginning to end!

I love tigers it doesn't matter which species they belong to so it shouldn't surprise anyone that the Bengal Breeds are some of my favorites. I love their fierceness, loyalty, and the purring. I was thrilled when this book came out and I thought that finally we would have a Breed triad. The only thing better than one Breed is a Breed sandwich. I keeping hoping for that to happen. I was just about to the point of kicking Tanners butt myself when he finally realized that Scheme was really his mate. I got a kick out of Cabal forcing the issue and I know that he wouldn't have hurt Scheme unless it was the only way to make Tanner lose control. This is the first book that the Breed had so much control over his animal instincts that he delayed the Mating Heat. I was beginning to wonder if it was ever going to happen. When I originally read this book I didn't see who the traitor was. It surprised me that a female Breed would betray the very people that had taken her in and loved her. This story has one of the sadness endings so far. Two Breeds die and it seemed so useless. One was an innocent that had escaped death over and over and ends up killed by someone that should have understood and helped her. I was impressed with David Lyons. He is a little fighter and is going to do his Mom and Dad very proud. I am glad that Scheme finally found people that would love her and protect her. She had been so badly abused by someone that should have loved and protected her. I was also sad the Cabal felt that he was alone. I know he gets his own book but he was so sad at the end of this one. This book is the first time Dog, Coyote Breed, shows up. He definitely is a free agent it seems. I am not sure whose side he is on and maybe he doesn't know. Scheme seems to think that Dog is pure mercenary and killer. That he enjoys killing and he is the lapdog for General Cyrus Tallant. Dog's boss is actually John Bollen, who is one of Jonas' men working within the Tallant Organization. Scheme had no idea that John was one of Jonas's men. Maybe the Breeds will finally begin to figure out who the other Council members are and put them out of the misery soon.

Over-the-top and silly villainy & torture, inconsistent world-building, and plot definitely takes second place to the sex & the romance. But I liked that both characters were unashamedly sexually experienced & kinky -- it's unfortunately much more common to have a virginal heroine paired with a sexually experienced hero. Here the two are equals in bed as well as out of it. Since this genre is all about the sex scenes (which were hot) and the characters, the many flaws in the plotting, worldbuilding, and other aspects of the writing don't end up counting against it too much. Probably my favorite of the several of this series I've read.

I have always felt that Lora Leigh personally elevated the romantica genre to a higher plateau than straight erotica/porn. There is an intensity in her hero's that is rarely matched by other authors for me.Tanner's Scheme is somewhere way down the line in her Breeds series. In this edition, after the Feline Breeds' main base is attacked, Tanner desires revenge. So he kidnaps Scheme Tallant-the daughter of a one-time high-ranking member of the Genetics Council. But when Tanner discovers that Scheme herself is a target of her father's ruthless mission, his vengeance takes a back seat to saving the life of the woman he hopes to claim as his mate. Intense and unapologetic is the way I describe Leigh's heros. And having most of her heroines the same makes it all the more enjoyable for me.I highly recommend this book but really suggest searching out her back list on this series first. WHile Tanner's Scheme can be read as a stand alone - I think that it'll make a whole lot more sense if you read it from the beginning - or at least the first few books togive you the background story.
