About this audiobook

#1 bestselling author Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum novels are: "irresistible" (Houston Chronicle), "stunning" (Booklist), "outrageous" (Publishers Weekly), "brilliantly evocative" (The Denver Post), and "making trouble and winning hearts" (USA Today).

New Jersey bounty hunter Stephanie Plum is certain of three truths: People don't just vanish into thin air. Never anger old people. And don't do what Tiki tells you to do.

After a slow summer of chasing low-level skips for her cousin Vinnie's bail bonds agency, Stephanie Plum finally lands an assignment that could put her checkbook back in the black. Geoffrey Cubbin, facing trial for embezzling millions from Trenton's premier assisted-living facility, has mysteriously vanished from the hospital after an emergency appendectomy. Now it's on Stephanie to track him down. Unfortunately, Cubbin has disappeared without a trace, a witness, or his money-hungry wife. Rumors are stirring that he must have had help with the daring escape . . . or that maybe he never made it out of his room alive. Since the hospital staff's lips seem to be tighter than the security, and it's hard for Stephanie to blend in to assisted living, Stephanie's Grandma Mazur goes in undercover. But when a second felon goes missing from the same hospital, Stephanie is forced into working side by side with Trenton's hottest cop, Joe Morelli, in order to crack the case.

The real problem is, no Cubbin also means no way to pay the rent. Desperate for money-or maybe just desperate-Stephanie accepts a secondary job guarding her secretive and mouthwatering mentor Ranger from a deadly Special Forces adversary. While Stephanie is notorious for finding trouble, she may have found a little more than she bargained for this time around. Then again-a little food poisoning, some threatening notes, and a bridesmaid's dress with an excess of taffeta never killed anyone . . . or did they? If Stephanie Plum wants to bring in a paycheck, she'll have to remember: No guts, no glory.

Stephanie goes for a record number of vehicles destroyed in this installment. Her own car, cars loaned by Ranger and Morelli's SUV are all casualties. The "let me just get . . ." lines by the FTAs Stephanie tries to apprehend are getting old--it fools her every time. You'd think she'd learn.

I didn't like the occult undertones of one of the subplots involving a religious tiki from Hawaii and people blaming it for their lack of self-control.

I'm really not too sure (ok so I don't remember) what was "Funny", but Nineteen has All of our favorite elements PLUS a good story! We even get to know a little bit about Ranger's military history.

******Basic Plot Lines (You can call them "Spoilers" if you want)********

Two of Stephanie's bonds have disappeared from the same hospital, in for minor surgery, out & missing from post-op. What makes this interesting is that a few of the hospital's medical staff are also employed by "The Clinic". An eerily dead quiet clinic with no patients, on a dead end street, backing up to the woods and with no close neighboring buildings.

Another of her bonds has stolen a Tiki from Hawaii and is using it for collateral against his bond.... except he won't part with it.... until Stephanie & Lula snag it, then the chase is on!

Ranger and a friend of his are being targeted by someone from their military days, someone severely deranged. Ranger needs a "date" so he invites Stephanie to be his date/bodyguard but things don't go as planned. The threats & violence escalate encompassing Stephanie & the Bride to be.

I liked this much better than the last 3 or 4 I read, because the same-old-same-old slapstick shtick was mainly absent, and there were actually two good story lines.

Originally posted at Novel ReveriesContinuing the disastrous fortune of Stephanie Plum, this book has a great mystery as Plum tries to figure how people are disappearing from the local hospital. Riddled with other little mysterious nuances, I found the book light, fun and a delightful read. Towards the middle, things started to become clear, and the mystery's conclusion felt predictable. I loved the zing of adding "Tiki" in the mix, as it created some sort of fun psycho atmosphere, haha! The situations Plum ends up in add good action and suspense as she encounters the tough, crazy, or just plain deadbeat side of society, as per her job entails."Even when I was a kid I had a knack for pushing the boundaries of common sense and normal behavior. I walked into the boys' bathroom in grade school because I was convinced I was invisible. I jumped off the roof of my parents' garage because I thought I could fly. And that was the tip of the iceberg. And I'm still pushing boundaries, flopping around in water that's over my head. And here's the scary part that I wouldn't say out loud to anyone ...I'm a little addicted to it." (210)Character-wise, I found everyone, old and new, to have great and distinctive personalities, which with this series, really make the book. Stephanie continues to be ever vigilant in catching her targets, her grandmother takes on the role of a saucy spy, Lula is her usual outgoing wild self, which I loved, and Morelli & Ranger to just get in the way. I know Ranger helps Plum out a lot throughout the book, but it's their relationship that I found got in the way. Neither Plum's relationship with Morelli, nor Ranger, seem to develop in this book. This unfortunately also means that the series as a whole didn't develop much, as there are no startling revelations that could impact anything in Plum's life. Morelli makes several references towards love and marriage, but truthfully with Plum still having some sort of feelings towards Ranger, I can't see that happening any time soon. In all, this book is a nice installment in the Plum series and should be a great read if your looking for a little adventure and fun.First Line: " 'I don't know why we gotta sit here baking in your car in the midle of the day, in the middle of the summer, in the middle of this crummy neighborhood,' Lula said." (3)Last Line: "I need a date." (302)---------------Quotes" 'Just remember who got you into the building,' briggs said. 'I want to be there when you get Cubbin. And I don't want to be left out of the television show either. Little people are sexy now. Have you seen Game of Thrones? We're hot.' " (154)" 'Say what? I'm a 'ho, not Donald Trump. I don't got that kind of money. Would you be willing to hold a mortgage?''We should go now,' I said to Lula." (162)

Funny, as always. Stephanie's and Lula's adventures this time include a little person and a yeti...curiosity up?

I slugged my way thru it, but it was difficult. Reading this was like reading the last one, and the one before that, and so and so on. Same storyline, but the names are different. It's time for SOMETHING to change.

Stephanie Plum is always a good, quick read. This time around Ranger needs Stephanie's help in keeping a friend safe. Of course, nothing is ever that easy for Stephanie Plum. This book included missing hospital patients, organ stealing, explosions, fireballs and more! Janet Evanovich can never write a bad story, in my opinion.

I have read all of the Stephanie Plum novels so far and I just love these books. They are a very easy read and are something to read when you just wanna relax after a long day. They are just so humorous and I love all the characters, especially Grandma Mazur. It has a little bit of everything thrown in, while still being lighthearted.

I would recommend these books to anybody.

Stephanie Plum is in fine form in this installment of Evanovitch's always-fun series. I love the way she combines wacky elements with serious plotting to make nicely complex and fast-paced plots. Great fun!

I always enjoy listening to these books. Lorelei King is an amazing narrator. Very few narrators are in the same class that she is. Plus the books are always funny. Unfortunately, it's 19 versions of the same book. So while it's great fun and lots of laughter, there's nothing new there. So, if you're a Stephanie Plum fan, listen to the book and enjoy King's work but don't expect any great revelations.

A really fun installment of the Stephanie Plum series! Lula on a nude beach, Grandma cracking the case, Stephanie and a couple of blown up cars, Morelli & Ranger tempting & confusing Stephanie. Yep, the gang are all present and accounted for! Great series!

This was a fast, fun read. I really enjoyed it. These books are formulaic, but they are also comforting in their sameness. I have found it is best not to read too many in a row or you will get tired of them. But if you read them a few months apart, they are great,

Okay, I cheated on this series by skipping 10 books for later, rainy days. I'm glad I've done it, though. This one was a fun read, although I guessed the ending early-on thanks to Robin Cook and Michael Palmer books. It's a 4.5 star Plum, hilarious.

Finished this one up over the weekend. I think it was a bit better than some of the recent books in this series, and I laughed aloud a couple of times. Evanovich continues to be inventive and Stephanie keeps getting up to crazy hijinks.

Is it possible that Janet Evanovich isn't even writing these things anymore?
Obviously writing the same book formula 19 times is going to get worn out. But for the first dozen or so, she kept me with her. And then it just turned into quagmire.

But I loved the characters and so I kept trucking on. But I have to question my sanity at this point.

And also whether I'm trudging through this pain without the author.

Because it's not quite the same writing and it hasn't been for several books. Since 14 for sure, maybe since 13.

The sentence rhythm isn't quite right.

Maybe it really is just that Evanovich is bored and so the rest of us are bored too.

But if I was bored, I'd probably introduce a new concept, trope or direction.

I've been giving her bad books 3 stars because I read them and well, loyalty I guess. But I'm giving up.

I always get a few smiles form an Evanovich book. Stephanie, Lula, her family , her lovers, the whole cast is in this book. It was kind of funny but most of the incidents were a rehashing of incidents from previous books and most of the dialog was awfully familiar. The book also had much larger than ususal print size. Nuff said.

A little while ago I decided that this book would be the last of the series that I would read. While I did enjoy this book I am still happy with my decision. Since there hasn't been much change or growth in a while in this series I feel like now is the time to stop reading it.Well now that that is out of the way back to my review of this one. I enjoyed that this one had two main storylines, it helped boost my interest in the book. Tiki was one of my favorite parts of this book. I feel like Stephanie is at her best when she does weird things like talk to a wooden tiki.I was always rooting for Stephanie to finally pick Morelli. She hasn't picked anyone and I just can't keep continuing to see if she will finally decide. I will just make up my own ending of the series in which she picks Morelli.

I still like these books but it is more of a quick piece of mental candy to read and toss aside. Stephanie still has the hots for Ranger and she allows herself to spend time with him professionally even though she is with Morelli and he certainly wants more out of the relationship. At least in this book she is realizing that she has nothing long term and an unstable career as a bond enforcement officer. The mystery of the missing person is solved by the end of the book and more people than usual have their cars set on fire. A light enjoyable read but no real depth to the story or overall story arc.

As usual, a whole lot of fun. I noticed this book felt a tiny bit more sedate though, less completely outrageous. It works - I really enjoyed the storyline, and the Ranger plot reminded me a lot of the earlier Plum books, humour, but with that thread of seriously creepy. Tiki is pure fun. A fairly nice balance of Ranger and Morelli and although I like them both, I enjoy the Ranger scenes more. Evanovich is one of the few authors I've ever read who can write a love triangle that I personally can live with and enjoy - I actually hope Stephanie never chooses between the two. There's nothing saying a series must follow the normal 'rules' of reality, so here's hoping for many more Plum books with both Ranger and Morelli.

Remember when sometimes you went to a fancy restaurant and in between courses they gave you a tiny serving of sorbet to cleanse your palate? That's Stephanie Plum and I'm not complaining. Some readers bemoan the sameness, others find it comforting!

Once again Stephanie has quite the adventure while trying to get her FTA's. Ranger is still around and so is Micelli. Stephanie is still trying to be a "Girlfriend" to Micelli and trying to refuse Ranger's wooing her. Again, it was LOL funny and adventurous as usual. With some digging up of corpses and a wedding in this one it is definitely another great addition to the series.

Pretty standard entry in this series, with all the expected plot elements from exploding cars to Stephanie's continuing inability to choose between her stable cop boyfriend and the guy who keeps bugging her apartment while she's sleeping. (Such a tough call, right?) But a fun lighter read nonetheless...I just wish Evanovich would let her characters evolve a little more instead of sticking so closely to a formula with every single new book.

Stephanie Plum at her best -- funny and irreverent, incompetent and yet oddly successful. The ancillary characters get weirder all the time, but I listened to the audiobook while on a long drive and it's just the thing to pass the time. I thought this one was better than the last couple.
