I was literally blown away with the writing style, not to mention the story. Important to note is that we are whole only because of the grace of God.

Wow.. What an awesome story about what happens when you allow God's grace in. I found myself in tears and chuckling at times. I am so proud of the boldness of Sarah to share her story. My prayer is her story will help many others through tough times and right back into God's arms.

Beautiful story of finding oneself again in the most unexpected ways. One quote that spoke to me: "So often we look for Him to calm the storms of our lives. But there are times when the storm can’t go away because we need the rain. Can you stop being afraid of the thunder long enough to feel the rain?". It just reminded me that rain brings new life and without rain, a harvest would be pretty impossible. There is always a way out of any valley you find yourself in, as long as you keep going and focus on the path instead of the place you find yourself in.

Your journey for me was just incredible, Sarah’s strength all of this. I loved how she also described what you have to do for you to be happy no matter how difficult it is. I’ve learnt that you can pick yourself up from anything no matter how hard you have fallen.

Sarah Jakes is brave to share her story with the world. Her story is one of redemption but was largely buffered by the security of her parents.

It's been said that we each form our own image of God in the likeness of our parents. Luckily, Sarah Jakes has fabulous parents who model love, compassion & forgiveness, & who are happy to play the role of God throughout this book. I realise it's heretical to say that, but God only gets lip service in this book. She's a celebrity kid who went down the wrong path, but her well-connected parents find out where she is, help her get back on track & hired her into the family business (at a higher wage than she could earn on the free market, it seems). Nepotism at its finest. I don't have a problem with that, but can we stop pretending it's evidence of His Gods' grace?

This memoir is a wonderful reminder of God's love, grace, and forgiveness. I found myself highlighting and making notes throughout the book. One of my favorite quotes is "I was a diamond, covered in soot, dirt, disappointment, and fear, but my mother wanted to remind me that it was still possible for me to find my sparkle."Thank you, Sarah, for sharing your story and offering others ways to embrace and move one from their messy history.

This was an interesting read. Sarah talks about how she grew up and the mistakes that she made. What I got from this book was that none of us are perfect. We all make mistakes. The important thing is what we do going forward. We all have a purpose and it's up to us to find out what that purpose is and live it out. We can't let our past failures determine our future successes.

The daughter of a well-known megachurch preacher, Sarah Jakes was quite embarrassed to find herself pregnant at the age of 13. In this heartbreaking but heartwarming memoir, she bares her soul to tell a story of finding hope in God's grace despite making all the wrong decisions in life.

Sarah Jakes grew up the youngest child of Bishop T.D. Jakes. She was/is the child of a Pastor so she is suppose to be the good kid, right?! Sarah talks about getting pregnant at the age of 13 and how things changed for her overnight. Now as a child herself she had to grow up fast and be the Mother to her child. Through many tears her family stood behind her and loved her. Sarah learned that all is not perfect in love and that relationships have to be both giving to the other and not just one giving and the other taking. Sarah's book is about redemption in her own eyes, her family's eyes, her friends, the congregation but most importantly in God's eyes. She found that God never gave up on her, he gave what she asked, let her make the mistakes, but never once left her side through it all.I connected with being a preacher's daughter heavily and felt that she was able to word circumstances and situations very well. I found myself saying "amen" to many statements.I found the book to be slow going at times and while I know she would repeat sentences in bold for emphasis I found that to be distracting and irritating. I think she just could have made the sentence bold and not repeated it in larger font.

I'm really sorry for Sarah. Her story is one of poor choices and immaturity. It breaks my heart that Mighty men of God, must make sacrifices that cause their children to suffer in order to serve God. The stronger the ministry, the more the devil targets the youngsters and the more the body of Christ must stand together and keep these families surrounded in prayer.I hope that Sarah's next book will be a book of Faith and redemption. A story giving God the Glory and showing Sarah turning her life around and walking in His strength, forgetting the mistakes she made, forgiving herself, and giving it all over to Our heavenly Father.Thank you for the book.

I was very impressed by the deep insights that such a young person could have and how wise she became through all her trials and triumphs she had in a very short number of years. Loved her godly wisdom that she shared too. The only thing that bothered me was that she seemed so smart and how could she let that guy in her life drag her down for so many years. After the second or third time he cheated on her I was yelling at her to open her eyes. He is a slime and will always be a slime. I saw that coming from a mile away!

I received this book as an early review. And was a little disappointed thinking what could I have in common with a 24 year old since I am 60 and nothing wrong with that except time. Boy was I wrong!!!!! I enjoyed this book so much and learned something as I finished it. Yes it is a religious book but I truly feel like some of the sayings fit into my life perfectly at this time. Thank You Sarah for writing such a beautiful book!!!

The second book in as many months that I have received as an early reviewer copy from Bethany House Publishers. I've also read several of their historical fiction novels during the same time period. All in all, I would say this publisher chooses historical fiction novels well when making publishing choices. I cannot say as much for their personal memoirs, of which this is one. While I appreciate Sarah Jakes sharing her vulnerabilities with the world, the book itself doesn't ever lead me to the conclusion that this young woman will have an easier time in life now that she has recognized her earlier "mistakes." I don't feel as though she gives the average reader anything more to hang their hat on than God is completely and totally forgiving and grace covers all. Consequences for sin are only "temporary" in her estimation so one doesn't seem to need to consider "holiness" as a viable lifestyle. Maybe I'm just reading it wrong, but this is how it appears to me. Sorry, Sarah - wish I could recommend it more highly.

Sarah Jakes wrote her first book, “Colliding with Destiny a 10 day journey through the book of Ruth” and now publishing her second book, “Lost and Found: Finding hope in the detours of life.” As a Christian you probably have heard of T.D. Jakes and have read one of his top selling books, for example "Strength to Stand." This is his daughter, Sarah Jakes whom writes such a compelling story of her life and its detours. This book walks you through her hardships of being pregnant at the age of 14 and being shunned at school, gossiped about and judged. Sarah's story is a vivid reminder that God can turn even the deepest pain into His perfection. Lost and Found offers hope and encouragement to women of all ages, who like Sarah, find themselves wandering the detours of life, and no matter how lost God can bring you out of the situation blessed. God is in all of "the messes of life." © 2014 Jackie Paulson
