About this audiobook

Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum's life is set to blow sky high when international murder hits dangerously close to home, in this dynamite novel by Janet Evanovich.

Before Stephanie can even step foot off Flight 127 Hawaii to Newark, she's knee deep in trouble. Her dream vacation turned into a nightmare, and she's flying back to New Jersey solo. Worse still, her seatmate never returned to the plane after the L.A. layover. Now he's dead, in a garbage can, waiting for curbside pickup. His killer could be anyone. And a ragtag collection of thugs and psychos, not to mention the FBI, are all looking for a photograph the dead man was supposed to be carrying.

Only one other person has seen the missing photo-Stephanie Plum. Now she's the target, and she doesn't intend to end up in a garbage can. With the help of an FBI sketch artist Stephanie re-creates the person in the photo. Unfortunately the first sketch turns out to look like Tom Cruise, and the second sketch like Ashton Kutcher. Until Stephanie can improve her descriptive skills, she'll need to watch her back.

Over at the bail bonds agency things are going from bad to worse. The bonds bus serving as Vinnie's temporary HQ goes up in smoke. Stephanie's wheelman, Lula, falls in love with their largest skip yet. Lifetime arch nemesis Joyce Barnhardt moves into Stephanie's apartment. And everyone wants to know what happened in Hawaii?

Morelli, Trenton's hottest cop, isn't talking about Hawaii. Ranger, the man of mystery, isn't talking about Hawaii.  And all Stephanie is willing to say about her Hawaiian vacation is . . . It's complicated.

I hadn't read a Stephanie Plum novel in years. I would never have searched it out, but bought this from a homeless man in Baltimore which is rather fitting. He could be a character in a Stephanie Plum novel! While it is certainly formulaic fiction, I found it amusing and was glad I read it.

BOTTOM-LINE:A little darker than usual.PLOT OR PREMISE:While on a flight back from a trip to Hawaii with both Ranger and Morelli (it's complicated), Stephanie's seatmate gets whacked during a layover and everyone thinks Stephanie knows something.WHAT I LIKED:While the lighter side of the Plum series is the main draw, it is nice to see that once in awhile it goes a bit darker. Stephanie has real bruises and knife nickmarks, and Morelli and Ranger had a knock-down drag-out fight, with Stephanie doing the dragging (it is only told as a past event, but still good even if you don't actually "see it")..WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE:As always, there are a few too many incompetents running around, and too many coincidences..DISCLOSURE:I received no compensation, not even a free copy, in exchange for this review. I am not personal friends with the author, nor do I follow her on social media.

A few years ago, I bought a ridiculous number of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books at a library sale. (It was one of those big-bag-of-books-for-five-bucks deals, and I went a little nuts.) This one, finally, is the last of them. Not the last one to be published, by any means, but the last one I owned. And I am glad to finished with them. Honestly, the only reason I kept reading through this series this long was out of some sort of stubborn completism. Well, that, and the fact that if I needed something to read when my brain was completely fried after a week of night shifts, they were incredibly undemanding and easy. But by this point, mostly just the stubborn completism. They started out as good, dumb fun, gradually became less fun and more dumb, and finally degraded all the way down to boring. After eighteen-plus of these novels, it's hard to blame Evanovich for running out ways to make the formula these novels inevitably follow interesting or entertaining, and, I think, equally hard to blame me for being tired of the formula itself. Either way, I'm done with them now.Having finally finished with them, I was hoping for some feeling of accomplishment or relief, or maybe even of going out on an interesting note (even if it might have been interesting in a bad way). But there's not really much of any of that. This book was on my TBR shelves, and now it's going onto my read shelves, and whatever happened in-between those two things was entirely forgettable. Not especially good, not notably bad, just forgettable.

Overall, I liked the book, but the fact that Stephanie can't capture at least one FTA without major drama is getting old. We're at book 18, after all. Hasn't she learned anything since book 1? Oh well, at least she's starting to realize that she needs to make a decision about the men in her life.

Stephanie is back from Hawaii with a wedding ring tan line and a mysterious photo of a man stuck in her bag. Not knowing who the man in the photo is, Stephanie throws the photo away.

Several people, including the FBI & Fake FBI, are after Stephanie because they want the photo....

Oh, yes... the Bail Bonds office moves into a new location because the RV burns to the ground...and there is a small problem with Rats!

Both Morelli & Ranger are rather unhappy with Stephanie..... because while in Hawaii she.....

Ah ha ha ha ha ha.... I am So NOT GONNA TELL YOU!

There is not as much as ineptness in this book, nor are the characters as insipid as usual, which I found to be a relief. Sure Lula & Stephanie still lose some of their bondees. Stephanie's car isn't blown up, it's stolen several times. Stephanie does get beat-up, but she finally fights back!

So, I'll say I liked this....

This one has some tension...Stephanie's men are keeping their distance while she is being chased by killers and no one knows why. And then there is Lula and her new man. Always fun!

Have to say these books are all about the good the bad and the ugly. I just can't stop reading. Evonivich fan through it all.

These Stephanie Plum stories are often good escapist reads but this one never really clicked for me. Some of the continuing characters, e.g., Lula, are always pretty close to being over the top, but this time I think she and others crossed that line. The story was so-so and none of the continuing characters seemed very interesting. No doubt hardcore Evanovich fans will have a different perspective but I will be looking for a different source the next time I want some light reading.

Action packed, fun as usual. Stephanie gets herself into some binds, but I think she is gaining some knowledge finally. Buggy was a cute addative this time around he kept stealing Stephanies car. And Swearing off men.. LOL Stephanie I knew she would cave.. eventually. Looking forward to another one.

A very light read. I feel like this book was once again going over and over old ground with way too much rehashing of past books (books 1 to 10 were great). The characters have diminished into boring shadows of their former interesting selves. It's becoming irritating but I still have to keep reading them in the hopes that things improve. This series is way past its used by date - finish it already!

I love love all Stephanie plum books, they all have a touch of every kind of entertainment but i feel cheated with this book. I cant speak for anyone else but ive been waiting for the love triangle to finally get caught up and explode! With the threats from joe and the threats from ranger it was bound to happen. Then it finally happens and i miss it. I mean she told us the basics but come on now...

The saga of Stephanie Plum continues. The story sets off with a return trip from Hawaii where the relationship drama between Morelli/Stephanie/Ranger comes to a head. This story entails scary assassins, a new bail bonds office, and the continued journey of Stephanie's Grandma going to wakes. There will never be a Stephanie Plum book that I don't find enjoyable!

Stephanie Plum novels are like popcorn to me...I rarely indulge in just one at a time; I have to go back for that second handful. It's mostly the characters I enjoy--Lula and Grandma crack me up, so an Evanovich novel cheers me to no end. I thought there was a big plot hole in this one, but it was closed up in due course, so I was happy.

I have read all of the Stephanie Plum novels so far and I just love these books. They are a very easy read and are something to read when you just wanna relax after a long day. They are just so humorous and I love all the characters, especially Grandma Mazur. It has a little bit of everything thrown in, while still being lighthearted.

I would recommend these books to anybody.

I needed a quick, light read, perfect for getting my mind off of the present troubles in my life - and I got it, in this novel. The usual problems abound, nothing changes, and some scenes seem regurgitated in #18.
I shouldn't have thought the series would get better.... but for some reason, I just cannot stop trying. I'm not really sure where to go with this author, and her series... I keep saying I will stop reading them but I don't. Not sure why.
Don't read this book expecting anything new, innovative, or fresh. You won't find it here.

So silly... perfect antidote for "I need something absolutely silly to read, but I don't have time to really pay attention" lol

Loved the ending! Just plain fun!

I listened to this one on audiobook. As always, Lorelei King was a terrific narrator. She ranks right up there with my favorite narrators. The book wasn't as terrific. Yes, it was still good and it was classic Stephanie Plum but that's just it, it was the same old story. I think it's time that Evanovich changed things up for Stephanie.

Another fun book in the Stephanie Plum series. Stephanie is back from Hawaii with a secret. When the secret finally is revealed, it seemed a little anticlimactic. Really just standard stuff in Stephanie's life. But I did like that Morelli steps up a little in this one. If he wants to keep Stephanie away from Ranger, he better make a commitment soon.

Lots of crazy characters. Buggy, Stephanie's FTA, grew on me throughout the story. I really liked when Lula drank the love potion and thought she was in love. There is a computer hacker element to the story, that never really gets resolved, but at least by the end of the book Stephanie's life is no longer in danger.

Stephanie is like an old friend from school that you used to have so much fun with, but when you get together now, you're always thinking about the good old days because it isn't quite there anymore. But I'm not going to dump her! I listened to this book in the car and was surprised when I practically missed the climax. Not very exciting. And yes, I agree with another reviewer who was more kindly, but Lula is getting to be kind of a pig...

really 2 1/2 kinda tired of the2 man thing. and i don't find it very believable for Morelli to put up with it unless he too was dating another woman. and again starting to feel like reading hte same story over and over. i mean yes it's funny but a lil tired.

I thought #18 was better than the last few Plum books. More plot; still slapstick but more true to Stephanie's life/world.

And I was glad to see the self-examination of her love triangle. Personally, I think Stephanie should move on and look for someone other than her two commitment phobic boyfriends. Although Ranger is great to have in her corner when she's in a jam.

After the movie, One for the Money (I loved it), I wanted to read the books. I was half happy and half disappointed (to be fair the first few books were better than the rest - I've read 17 or 18). The writing isn't anything special but there is banter and wit (which is waning). I love her grandma, the ex-hooker, and some other random side characters - that and the witty moments kept me coming back for more.By the time of the 5th book (or at least by the 10th) you would think she would start to get the hang of her job or get a new one - nope. At a certain point she is just a pretty woman of 30ish who can't pick from 2 men (or choose to move on from both), who is bad at her job, and relies on luck and the men in her life to save her (to be fair I think of one time she was saved by a woman). So why do I keep reading? In spite of how annoying she is, and how she is hopelessly in love with 2 mildly mentally abusive men? Despite all the half attractive or good guys being over 6 ft tall for some reason and all the other men are taken or ugly? The reason is the supporting crazy characters, and the fading wit.

I'd give this book 3.5 stars. It's a Stephanie Plum novel and they can never be bad. However I find the stories are starting to get a bit repetitive. Usually these novels have me laughing out loud, this one didn't do that for me.I think it's time the story was switched up a little and that Stephanie chooses between Morelli or Ranger.
