About this audiobook
"Boy, do I have a lot to learn!" Anyone who's ever picked up a musical instrument of any kind-from the first caveman banging rocks to that little kid at the guitar shop-has though that. I know I did. I'd been trying for years to break in to the music scene, to show everyone my chops, to make my mark. And I was good. But I wasn't great. I knew that there was something wrong.
Then the teacher showed up. I didn't ask for him. I didn't think I needed him. And all he said he could teach me was "nothing."
What happened next, you may not believe...I sure didn't...but that didn't stop him.
The Music Lesson is the inspiring story of a young bass player and the lessons he learns about Life, Music, and the Life of Music. Throughout this audiobook is new, original music written by Victor Wooten and a bonus performance by the original supergroup Bela Fleck and the Flecktones.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Somewhat odd in some respects because of the way the subject matter is presented. Reminds me of the Plato technique of questions asked and then pondered. Being a lifelong musician I did learn something though that I wish I knew when I started 60 years ago. These are things that you do not learn in most schools and universities. I will be thinking about this for the years I have left playing music.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Very interesting concept and execution. I fear Victor feels the reader isnt "ready" for the concepts presented in the book, but they're pretty simple ideas. Still, worth a listen.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Audiobook review; The right book at the right time for me. Pardon the cliche, but for me this book is the right teacher appearing when the student is ready. I have no doubt that this book came to me because of the same energy 'Michael' talks about. Packed full of powerful observations about music and musicianship wrapped in an entertaining, engaging story full of fun characters. I'm listening to it again and am absorbing even more and having more aha moments than the first time.
Results; The ideas in this book if understood will make anyone a better musician - no matter the instrument. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Absolutely inspiring book. The magic side of music which dwella in eveeything and everywhere.
