About this audiobook

A rising star in the CIA, Erin Baker is driven by tragedy from her past. When she was a child, her eight-year-old sister, Claire, was kidnapped. Though Claire was miraculously found, she was changed forever. As was Erin, who now just might get what she's always wanted: the chance to make a difference in someone's life. But she must be willing to risk everything she holds dear.

When a child disappears near her home, Erin is certain there is a link to her sister's cold kidnapping case. She meets Alex Donovan, an FBI agent on the hunt to find the missing boy, whose record for locating missing children is unquestioned. Suddenly Alex and Erin find themselves on a desperate pursuit - from the streets of America's most peaceful neighborhoods to a horrifying underworld where children are stolen and trafficked. And as they get closer to the truth, they make their own lives, and the lives of everyone they love, into perfect targets for a killer.

This caught my attention on page 1 and kept me wanting to read every page thereafter. I enjoyed this simple suspense novel, which avoided any real graphic violence, but did contain some difficult issues like child abduction and slavery, beatings, fights and shootings. All leading to a very predictable ending.

Didn't know what to expect from this story, but pleased with how it unfolded and resolved. Good character development, as well as intriguing plot, with an absence of too much romance, made this a very good read - in my opinion. There is some use of stereotypes, but not too much.

Lots of action and suspense! Who can stop a child trafficking ring, especially if the head has diplomatic immunity? This is the task of CIA agent Erin Baker, and her reluctant partner, FBI agent Alex Donovan. For Erin, this is personal! Her sister had been kidnapped when she was 7yo and discovered when she was 11yo...but Claire has never been the same. Now, many years later, Erin decides to get to the bottom of these kidnapped kids cases. What she uncovers is horrific...is Erin and Alex too late to save the most recent missing boy? Great storyline; well written.

Wow! Patricia Lewin writes suspense so well! I couldn't put it down. Love the heroine, and I hope there are more Erin Baker novels in the future!
