About this audiobook

When a skier goes missing at Sun Valley's Galena Summit, Sheriff Walt Fleming quickly assembles his crack Search and Rescue team and heads out into the snowy night. Despite the treacherous conditions, Walt and his group, including deputy Tommy Brandon and Walt's best friend, Mark Aker, set off on skis, accompanied by highly trained search dogs. Within minutes, something goes horribly wrong: one of their team is dead. By morning, Mark Aker has disappeared.

Torn between professional responsibility and the desperate urge to find his friend, Walt is further challenged by an unexplained illness at a local water-bottling plant that sends workers to the hospital and sets off biohazard warnings. Following threads of questionable evidence through the glitter of Sun Valley leads Walt to an unlikely-and darker-source, and reveals a crime played out on a much larger scale than he originally envisioned. Waist-deep in snow and knee-deep in lies, the life of his friend in the balance, Walt begins to suspect that the whole operation is controlled by people of great wealth and power, which leaves him where he started: out in the cold.

From adrenaline-charged start to explosive finish, Killer View is heart-stopping suspense at its very best.

"A terrific villain, an appealing protagonist, and breakneck pacing. Ridley Pearson writes thrillers, the kind that try to yank you to the edge of your seat and keep you there." -Boston Sunday Globe

This was an okay book. The pace is good but some aspects leave questions. Like what is the agenda of the terrorist group and why Fleming's divorce comes into play? I may or may not read another Pearson book.

Excellent characters, lively plot. A good read, I will look for the rest of the series.

I don't usually read thriller novels but after a few pages of this one, I knew I had found a real writer. You know that feeling when you've run across an author that excels at his art? To me, that feeling is a warm blanket of anticipation. You know you're reading a great book, and letting it play out before you is going to be exhilarating. This novel, while being #2 in a series of 4, didn't feel like a series book. The characters all seemed fresh and I accredit that to the superb writing. Thrillers have always been an enigma to me because you have to do so many things right to keep the reader involved, while not pulling what I call the "24 Syndrome." The "24 Syndrome" is the art of taking the characters into an unsolvable situation, then using sheer chance to get them out of it, much like Jack Bauer did in the television series, "24."In short, that pisses me off. It feels cheap and lazy, and I will only give an author one of those before I put the book down and move on.Ridley Pearson is the real deal. This guy can flat out write. He does a great job of mixing in some flotsam with real clues and devices so that when a twist comes, you didn't see it coming. A lot of times, a plot device is so evident when it's presented, you spend the rest of the novel wondering when the writer's going to come back to it to "solve the problem."I will be reading much more Ridley Pearson. The jacket said he's the author of more than twenty novels and I can't wait to get started.

This is the first Ridley Pearson that I've read in a long time, and I jumped to the second in the four book series of Idaho sheriff Walt Fleming, since it was better reviewed than the first book. I enjoyed it and will read more. It was well researched, with lots of interesting detail and scenes that I don't recall in other crime fiction - a sleeping bear, murder of a skier, how water flows through underground rivers, nuclear research. Like most CF protagonists, Walt is "flawed", but not by booze nor the curse of bosses' underappreciation of his merit; his "baggage" is a divorce-in-process and a custody issue surrounding twin girls. The descriptions of Idaho are candid from the beauty of Sun Valley, its denizens and visitors, to the folks living 100 miles east of a nearby small town in an uncomplimentary style reminiscent of 100 years ago. Good pace, story stays on track; characters are OK, but this is not a character driven book.

Read Killer View when in the mood for what this author does best, - fast paced, non-stop action. This easy beach read will certainly hold your attention. However, sometimes the story moves so quickly plot lines need more development. This book is excellent cotton candy.... not a gormet dinner. Read accordingly.

Sheriff Walt Flemming is struggling to keep up with his twin daughters, soon-to-be (maybe) ex-wife, and the demands of his job. When the lost skier call comes in it's one more business as usual roll-out of tracking dogs and search & rescue personal - until one of the searchers doesn't come back. As the body count - human and animal - rises, missing persons pile up, and the CDC lands on his doorstep, Flemming grows certain that there's more going on in peaceful little Sun Valley than meets the eye. Of course, knowing and being able to stop it are two completely different things...A bit rough in spots, and there are more than a few loose ends. But it's a page turner.

This story is a fast moving one that gives you a feel for Idaho living from both sides of the fence, yuppy and mountain man. The only weak scene is a critical one involving a key plot twist at the three quarter mark. Instead of being shocking, it becomes surprising and confused with an improbable scene of a rational person purposely drinking deadly water. A good read, but for this, a great one.

Killer View is a continuation of Walt Fleming's adventures ae sherrif of Sun Valley, Idaho. As someone who has visited there on numerous occasions, the depictions are accurate. Ridley has again written a great story with lots of twists and turns and characters whom are lively and life like. Great reading!!
