- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The best summary of the mental health industry you are likely to find.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It gives me so much information about changing. Thank you!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I love the content of Seligman's books, though his writing style leaves me a little bored sometimes. This is the kind of book I'd keep on my shelf permanently and read a chapter every so often for inspiration.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I'm a great fan of Martin Seligman, I find he writes/talks sense but sense that is fuelled by evidence and an open mind. Several things that I believed to be less effective or important than I was told have been strengthened by listening to this audiobook.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5The book is outdated, makes sense given it was written around the start of the “decade of the brain”. The premise of the book is that somewhere between biology/genes and therapy lies what we can change and what we can’t. The book aims to help us change what we can with the suggested treatments and learn to cope with what we can’t change. The field has advanced rapidly since the book was written and a lot of the speculation and content in the book is either irrelevant or obvious now.
There are some good bits in there but there are more up to date books than this that aren’t stretched so thin. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great audio book, easy listening content & well-read by narrator.
Author challenges and attempts to dispel several widely-held and harmful misconceptions. It is abridged so is more of a primer and thought-provoker in an easily digestible portion.
I look forward to reading the unabridged. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5me gustó aunque me pareció que el tópico es muy amplio y se perdió un poco el objetivo durante el desarrollo del tema.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Offers much more depth and coherency than the previous campaigns for happiness through pleasure and self-esteem.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Brilliant. Potentially life changing.
