I enjoyed this book. I was not too happy with the way Rose and Dimitri ended it in the last book. I enjoyed when Rose took her guardian test. I wish there could have been more of that. I am feeling like the whole use of spirit is kind of a cop out. If you can use it to bring people back from the dead, then the death of someone is not as devastating, because you can revive them.

Holy moly. As this series continues it just keeps getting better. There are no filler books here, folks. Overall I enjoyed this read as much as the last. There were a ton of intense situations, get character development, and well some revelations that were both heartbreaking and inspiring. BUT THAT ENDING...GAH. On to the next one like I could do anything else?

Roe couldn't bring herself to kill Dimitri. Now, Dimitri is back and is hunting Rose. Rose has heard that there is a way to change Strigoi by using spirits and the stake. Lissa is determined to do just that.

My first big surprise in this book was Rose actually taking Adrian's interest in her seriously, especially since I know that she is still head-over-heels in love with Dimitri, no matter his present state. This boggled my mind from cover to cover, even though I do like Adrian, but I am guessing she did it at first to honor her deal with him. Later on it became obvious that she does have real feelings for him - so the question is, what about Dimitri? I guess this becomes another Team Dimitri vs. Team Adrian. I don't think I am going to choose a side on this one, I'm just going to grab the final book in the series, Last Sacrifice (Vampire Academy, Book 6), as soon as it hits the shelves!
In other matters, I found it a bit unreal how fast and easily that Dimitri was able to track Rose - I would have liked to know some of the details behind that, such as how extensive Dimitri's connections are in the Strigoi world. Lissa's connection with Dimitri is intriguing, even though it is non-magical, especially since it so strongly resembles a parental role. What I immediately started wondering after that event is why isn't anyone notifying Dimitri's family, expecially Rose? Queen Tatiana makes me think of a grown-up version of Mia, before she became Rose's friend. I wish I understood more of her motives for what she does throughout this book, since it seems like she goes back and forth between tolerating Rose and hating her. I could be completely off-base on this, but I keep getting the feeling that Lissa is/was being groomed to inherit Tatiana's title. With the way that many of the Moroi and Dhampirs view Lissa as a goddess, it would certainly fit. Also, by the end of the book, it seems that Rose has all but forgotten about the escaped convict, Victor Dashkov. Maybe she just thinks that the "authorities" would handle him?
Wow, so I had a lot of questions while reading this book, but that's only because I really enjoyed it, and I am anxious to read the last one to get them answered! I read the first five books back-to-back and ugh, I really hate waiting!

Spirit Bound was just as good as the previous books, with Rose graduating and becoming a guardian and the quest to turn Dimitri back into a dhampir. They went through extraordinary acts to get the information they needed to make the transformation possible, some of which surprised me that they went through with. This book was also full of rocky relationships, between Rose and Adrian and Lissa and Christian. And to top it off, the book ends with an outrageous accusation against Rose that could possibly end in her execution. Can't wait for the next book!

This series really has surpassed Twilight in all imaginable ways, I even feel bad about mentioning it in this review but it has to be said. Rose is awesome, she really is. The next book is going to pretty full of action based on this, but I just hope it has a conclusion that gives Rose everything she deserves, you know, a bit of peace and quiet, as if.

If I could give this book 10 stars, I would! This is the fifth in the Vampire Academy series and after reading the fourth (which I gave 2 stars), I wondered if it would be worthwhile to keep going. I am so glad I did. This is the best book of the series so far! There was non-stop action and the author finally got out of the habit of recapping the former books, which allowed me to jump in and hang on for the wild ride she had planned. I chewed through this novel and can't wait to read the next.

If you've been on the fence about "another vampire series," take my word for it and give it a try. This book alone is worth the series. Awesome.

This was probably my least favorite book of the series, based solely on the fact that it seemed to take longer to pick up than the previous 4. However, once it picked up, it really got good. I'm not excited about the major love triangle that is starting, but there were some interesting twists near the end that I didn't see coming but found very exciting. Also, what I loved the most, solely because this series is completed, and I'm not waiting a year for the next book, was that it had a major cliffhanger ending. Sometimes these are annoying, but it made me very excited to start the next (and final) book.

A bit more action-packed than the total filler previous one and fortunately with more less teenie whining. The result is an enjoyable and fast-paced novel with an inevitable (and really interesting) cliffhanger.

I'm wavering between 4 and 5. On the one hand, the fifth book in the Vampire Academy is easily the most thrilling and complex. There are several majot conflicts within the story and its all very intruguing. On the other hand, I had trouble with a lot of the decisions Rose and her friends made. It felt like Rose hadn't learned enough from all her previous adventures; like she reverted to the person she was in the first book, before she learned discipline. She threw caution to the wind and put herself and other people at risk. It became too much about her being desperate.

I feel like authors who create strong female characters often lose sight of that when there is a romantic struggle. Women and girls become idiotic and dangerous, to themselves and others, just to have that ""one true love."" Even though I was with Rose through all the other books, whether I'd agreed upon her course of action or not, she always had a purpose that served a greater good and even if it satisfied a personal need, it didn't hurt anyone else

In this book she was selfish and had no grasp on the concept of how ridiculous and damaging her choices and actions could be. It was infuriating. I was genuinely upset the first half of the book, but eventually, completely gave way to logic — because it doesn't have a place for this book — and suspended disbelief. So while I did enjoy the book and was compelled to finish reading, despite being irritated with how the story was progressing, I can't fully praise the book.

This may be rough, but I'm writing from my phone, so give me a break.

It must feel great if you can do anything in your story, but illogical stuff is not so exciting for the reader.

When will this publisher get the point that THIS SERIES HAS MORTIFYING COVER ART?! I am embarrassed to be seen reading this in any public place. And it is probably alienating TONS of potential fans with its cheesiness.

    That said...

Hooray! This series is back on track! After reading so many disappointing series installments lately, I am rather ecstatic that someone's gotten it right. This book had a great pace with lots of action, great dialogue, and tons of plot twists. We got to see development in every major relationship (Rose and each of her parents, Lissa and Christian, Rose and Dimitri, Rose and Adrian) and we got some OBG characters back into the mix--namely Ambrose, Eddie, Mia and Rhonda. Success!

Rose is finally graduating from the Academy and only the last trial is ahead. But she hasn’t given up on getting Dimitri back and with Lissa’s help she uses the information she gathered in Blood Promise. But they need help from Victor who is in prison.

There are times I don’t understand what makes me read these books but I can’t help myself. I need to know what happens to these people and if they have some sense in the end.

In the last book I thought Rose had finally matured little and damn now were back on square one. Okay, there was parts where she acted like responsible person and the she’s back on being childish and selfish.
She’s taking guarding Lissa seriously but when her relationships are concerned I just want to slap her. Rose is supposed to be with Adrian, or at least give him a chance but instead she’s obsessed getting Dimitri back. And even when Dimitri tells he’s no longer interested she just don’t get it. And she’s still with Adrian! I was reminded how slutty I thought her to be in book 1.

I’m glad that Dimitri is back but oh the drama! I get that he regrets the things he did as strigoi but the way he wants to protect Rose even though she doesn’t mind the things he did. Or enough not wanting to be with him anyway.

I’m starting to like Adrian but I wish he finds someone better than Rose to be with. Just saying…

So YES, I suppose I'm going to read all of these, despite the fact that they cannot actually be called 'good'. The dialogue is stilted. The drama is contrived. The characters lean towards the sketchy - all of which I blame the publishing side for, as Mead manages to maintain a sly and easy charm throughout, and is obviously more capable than she appears in this book. I bet with less constraints and no deadlines, the series would be way better. Though what the hell am I complaining about? I can't put them down, and compared to Twilight they are deathless literary masterworks. Plus, the girls in Mead's books actually kick ass and have jobs, which is refreshing. So, yeah. Carry on, Richelle Mead.

I want Rose and Demitri to be able to be happy together. Rose will try anything to save him. I was cheering her on hoping for success. This series is really starting to climax. I am so eager to read the next book.

Another success. The beginning is kind of slow, and the relationship with Adrian did annoy me quite a bit, because I knew it wasn't right, but the second half brings us back into the excitement. I also was not expecting the plot twist at the end, but I guess that is part of the awesomeness that is Vampire Academy.
