- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I won this book through a Goodreads giveaway (thanks, Goodreads!) and I loved it! It reads almost like a conversation with the author - who writes much like he talks, I imagine. I laughed out loud throughout, and though I wasn't expecting much in the way of weight loss tips, there is definitely some good, practical advice here, mainly to figure out what works for you, and you'll be successful. I enjoyed reading about his journey in becoming the person he wanted to be. I'm hoping there are more books from him in the future.

It's like having your friend kick you in the butt to start eating right and exercising.Lüc starts out as a Nebraskan rock 'n roller, who goes to New York City to fulfill his dream of becoming a rock star drummer. He eventually ends up as a hard partying, bar manager/bar tender. Along the way, he gains weight; weight from unhealthy eating habits and booze. One day, he decides he's tired of looking the way he does and so begins his journey to become "sexy".This book is chock full of humorous, crazy stories. Lüc's insane personality shines throughout the whole book. He writes as if you're one of his friends, sitting at the bar, just talking and swapping insults. He holds nothing back in connecting with the reader, not even his language.I wanted to be an early reviewer of this book not as a diet book, but because it sounded crazy. I like crazy. I was not disappointed. But, something happened along the way. I got inspired, very inspired. I, too, wanted to lose the extra weight I've carried around. I wanted to be "sexy" again.Although the title says The Drunk Diet, it's not a diet book at all. It's the story of Lüc's life to becoming what he is now - still insane, but now sexy insane. It still has some aspects of a diet book. There are several recipes, including a few for drinks. But, they are rated with a bulls&#t meter and there's not too many of them. I've never seen a diet book with recipes for alcoholic drinks in it.There is so much good information in it for eating healthy and exercising interspersed with the story that you don't realize the common sense advice he is passing on. It's nothing that we don't already know, but the way he presents it, it makes you want to eat healthier and exercise. It worked for a couch potato like me.Lüc's book comes out March 13, 2012. You should read it, even if you have no desire for a diet book. It's a memoir with a good story to tell. It's a winner.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5The book was a Goodreads.com First Read contest win.I read this book but I do not know why. The book was more about the vanity of man who is out of his prime. I have never read a book that is so vulgar. To write God in one sentence and then turn around and put goddamn in the next sentence makes this a hard read. Not to mention all of the cuss words. To actually talk about using the pages from the bible to roll there weed with is something I do not understand. I also do not understand why the author can say he does not problem giving up cheeseburgers, cigarettes, soda but not to take away his alcohol. Then he describes himself not as an alcoholic but as a partyholic. To me (and yes I lived with an active alcoholic for 12 years) the author is in denial about alcohol. This book is nothing but a way to make the author feel important about himself. His pride and vanity is now gone and he wants that back. Sorry Luc Carl your book is a big thumbs down for me. I am still trying to figure out why any publishing house would publish such a horrible book. The bunnies and I rate this book at 1-Carrot.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5People seem to love or despise this book. There seems to be no middle ground. I fell on the love side of the scales. Reading this made me wish I was 40 pounds overweight and a few years younger. Everything Luc describes as his lifestyle was my life 20 years ago...except I was his skinny friend that never gained weight. Comparing the music in my MP3 player to Luc's resulted in a near identical match. I swear he must have broke into my house, stole my drums, running shoes and music. I was never a victim of the 4am tacos, but I could see fat Luc and I sharing a few over beers. This book is definitely aimed at people not easily offended. The storytelling is like you are sitting at his bar listening to him while he pours you another vodka/soda. Thank you Luc. Job well done.

I love the author’s sense of humor and this book is unlike any book I have ever read. He puts lifestyle change in a new light and I love how he starts of the book with the words hey a**hole in the disclaimer section. The recipes are great and this book is a quick read.

If you've ever gone on a diet, enjoyed rock music, drunk in a bar, woke up in jail or lying on the street, or just truly lived life then you should get a kick out of it. Warning - 4 letter expletives abound, used as verbs, adverbs and adjectives. reviewer won this book from Library thing.

If I'm being honest I have to admit that I wanted to read this book at first because I wanted to see if he mentioned Lady Gaga, and to see what he said about her. While he does mention her (not by name) he doesn't really say that much about her. I was actually glad that there were only a couple of sentences about her, after I started reading the book I was much more interested in Luc's weightloss journey than reading his thoughts about her.First off I have to warn any prospective readers that this book is not like most weightloss books. Luc Carl talks mostly about his experiences with weightloss (when he decided enough was enough, his childhood eating junk foods, his insecurities about his weight that he dealt with since he was a child), and give readers advice on what they can do. He doesn't tell you things that you absolutely have to do to lose weight, instead he tells you to do what is best for your body. He provides readers with some of his favorite healthy food recipes rated with his own bullshit meter rating the healthiness of the food and the amount of effort needed to make the food.While he does give the reader good advice and tips I was kind of irked when I saw uncited facts. I know that this book is not another uber-scientific book written by some doctor, but Luc gives you some scientific definitions and some facts and admits to having researched these things and he never once cites where he got his info from. Another thing that kind of turned me off from the book a bit was the constant use of the word fuck. I felt like it wasn't necessary in half the places he used it, but then again he is just being himself. Also I didn't like the fact that he called it his journey to become "sexy." Oh god he uses that word too much. I felt like it should have been a journey to health not "sexy." Sexy just makes you sound vain.Overall I thought the book was good, it's different from all the other weightloss books. Luc gives the book character and rock-n-roll. I would recommend this book to rock-n-roll lovers and to all those people out there looking for advice on losing weight.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Picked this up at the library for my true love, but decided to read it first. There's plenty of stuff I disagree with in it (salt! OMG, don't use salt at the table you will die, die die!) but also some humor. There are more typos than you can shake a stick at, and that always drives me batshit. Interesting but not my cuppa.
