About this audiobook

There is nothing Connor Malone wants to do less than babysit the outrageous and out-of-control pop star Lyric Jones. But part of him relishes taming the celebratty songstress and showing her what it's like to be possessed-body and soul-by one man. And though Lyric's crazy antics nearly drive Connor to the edge, his quiet intensity penetrates her defenses, leaving them both vulnerable to the secrets that could topple Lyric from the stage.

Definitely my favorite Sweet book and quite possibly my favorite Banks book ever! Absolutely amazing! I loved both of the characters. He was such a sweetheart and she was a pip. The storyline was an interesting backdrop with just enough suspense to keep it interesting. It was also pretty realistic. The erotic romance was sizzling!!! Truly some of the best steamy scenes! Loved seeing all of the other characters, and the girls were a stitch when they got together. Lots of great dialogue. I really felt like I got to know the characters and you could actually see & feel the relationship developing. Now that I know what she's capable of, my expectations for future stories will be much higher.

Sweet Possession by Maya BanksConnor is given the job to look after the rock star singer as a favor to his dads friend. After meeting her one day he just heads back to the family complex and she arrives the next day apologizing.Love how the women welcome her and they gather her together for girl time. What a new meaning for girl time for me.Lots of hot steamy sex scenes but it's a mystery as to who's after her to kill her. She just found out but Connor and others will protect her.Have read other books in this series and enjoyed every one. There are others that the book follows also and you realize how important family is.She has secrets and it takes her a while to tell them to Connor. Love how the whole family comes together to help one another.Excerpt from the next book is included at the end. I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

Sweet Possessionby Maya Banks#5 SweetAudio narrated by Caroline Winter3-1/2*Connor Malone is hired to serve as a temporary bodyguard to pop star, Lyric Jones. Lyric has a reputation for being a wild child so the two bump heads immediately because Connor is all business and wants her to take her safety seriously. They are forced by circumstances to be glued to each other 24/7 until the danger of a possible stalker passes so Connor is given the opportunity to see Lyric's true personality, which is nothing like what you find in the tabloids. They fall in love and Lyric is welcomed into the fold of Connor's closest friends and their spouses.Although this was an enjoyable read, there were two things that came up that I see on occasion and can be a little irksome. The first is when the bodyguard immediately lusts after or falls for his client when he really should be focusing on their safety. That was covered in the story so it wasn't too troublesome for me in this case, as Lyric was well protected by a team of security personnel and wasn't strictly reliant on her personal bodyguard. The second thing was there was kind of a big deal made about Lyric fluctuating between being a size 12 and 14 and that Connor still thought she was tiny and stressed to her all the time that she was perfect. That was sweet and at first her self-consciousness about not being smaller was due to her business manager harping on her weight because he thought her fans didn't want to see someone who didn't have a "perfect" body. My problem was that they focused A LOT on the amount of food she ate. In other books I've read, where often the character's looks and figure fits into the desirable cultural ideal, I don't think I've seen so much focus on the specific eating habits of a character when they are a little bit of a thing. Focusing on a bigger character's "healthy appetite" defeats the purpose of showing them being a desirable person as they are. Instead, the focus seems to be that they are desirable to the object of their affection despite the fact of their eating habits. It wasn't handled in an insulting way in this book, but is just a minor irritation to me when I see it come up in books. To compare it to real life, I have a friend who was once told that she "looks good for having five kids". I saw the compliment in what she was told, but her feelings were a little hurt because she wasn't just told "she looked good" in and of itself, but that there was an "in spite of" thrown in there. That made me look at compliments like that in a different light, so now it's a weird quirk of mine to be sensitive to it. (

This book was a TON more vanilla than I am used to in this series. I was expected, uh, more of what this series was founded on. I mean I am glad that Ms. Banks stuck true to Connor's character but at the same time I was sad to see a lack of hardcore control and such. I enjoy that about this series, so I guess I will have to wait until the next book to see if I can be satisfied then.

I love that Lyric is pretty average size and even says her size in the story. We read book all the time where the heroine is curvy, or large, and you never ever get a size to actually reference what size the character is, nothing to touchstone on. I love that Lyric is a good healthy size, it makes me so happy. I also love Lyric's fire, I just wish she had more for herself in the beginning, it totally took Connor dragging it out of her to get her to stand up for herself, I did not like that bit.

Hmm...as I said, the sensuality is pretty vanilla, but still up to Ms. Bank's super hot standards. I enjoyed the read and I am glad we finally got to see someone bag Connor!

Cute book. Liked both the hero and the heroine. The major conflicts, though, seemed superficial and a little too easy to figure out, if you will. All in all, though, it was an easy breezy read. I also really liked that we actually got a bit more to the HEA than three paragraphs at the end of a book. I always feel so gypped at the end of romances, and with this one, we got a solid chapter and a half of closure and happiness.

I'll definitely look into more of Maya's books.

I'd put off reading this one after I read a couple of disappointed reviews. Much to my surprise then, I really enjoyed the romance aspect of this book. Just to change it up, there are only 2 people in the bed this time - Lyric and Connor - but that didn't mean it wasn't smokin'. The "suspense" subplot was really non existent and just an excuse for the characters to get together. Because I'm in it for the romance, I wasn't too bothered by this but there really isn't anything suspenseful about this story. Connor has always been the non-kinky straight arrow of the group so I liked that he remained true to his well established character and I enjoyed the interplay between both the girls and the guys. I think it does have, possibly, one of the "guyest" declarations I've ever read: "If you're asking me to explain how or why people fall in love, you're barking up the wrong tree. I watched all my friends fall hard for the women in their lives. I secretly thought they were all morons. They completely lost their shit. I never understood it. Until now. Now, I can see exactly what they were thinking and feeling. Because I've completely lost my shit over you."Ah, Connor - a man with a style all his own! :DI like the cover, but I think she must be standing on a box because in the book, the top of Lyric's head reaches to just under Connor's chin. Just sayin'.

This book turned out better than I thought it would when I started it. I wasn't sure I was going to like Lyric enough or that she would be good enough for Connor. However she did win me over and I was glad that she was able to find someone to look out for her and keep her out of trouble. I have liked Connor since the first book and it was good to finally read his HEA. I loved that Ms. Banks continued to give us glimpses into the the lives of the other couples and the two scenes were all the girls get together and have a good time are great. This is another definite recommend.
