About this audiobook
Craig is smaller and far too scared to tell even his parents, let alone his teachers.
He is miserable. And every day, Danny tries harder to make it worse."
On the internet, on playgrorounds, and in schoohoohools across the country, thousands of elementary and middle school kids are picked on, teased, and harassed by bullies. It's something that can jeopardize a child's development -- unless they have the tools to help stop bullying in its tracks.
In Jay McGraw's Life Strategies for Dealing with Bullies, McGraw helps kids identify potentially harmful situations and deal with bullies through tips, techniques, and examples that apply to real-life situations. Jay doesn't just speak about the bullies -- he also speaks to the bullies themselves to help them change their ways.
Jay takes a no-nonsense approach to bullying and the ways listeners can handle it. This timely and much-needed audiobook will provide the tools for kids across the country to use in order to stop being victims -- and take back the power in their lives.
Bullying online, at school, and at sporting events is worse than it's ever been, and we are all tired of reading about kids hurting other kids, both emotionally and physically. I can't make this problem go away -- only you can. If you're a kid who's getting bullied, you owe it to yourself to stop it from happening again.
I'm not saying it's going to be easy. It will take some work.
But you can do it -- and you have to!
This audiobook isn't just a bunch of ideas I've come up with out of thin air. They are real stories and strategies that have worked for other people and will work for you, too.
It starts with you. You can do it!

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Jay McGraw tried to make the ten life laws concepts understandable and included useful stories to help clarify each concept. Most of the time I thought his approach of anecdotes and metaphors were good and at other times I thought certain sections were long winded with too much explanation. I think this book would be a good recommendation for students to follow a step by step plan to improve their life, which is written from a young adults point of view.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is one of the best books for teens that I have come across. My 15 yr. old is having a challenging time and I bought this for her. Jay gives wonderful, realistic advice for teens.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Self-Help BookMcGraw, J. (2008). Life strategies for dealing with bullies. New York: Aladdin.Life Strategies for Dealing with Bullies begins with an extensive explanation about the different types of bullying, the types of bullies, and the damages caused by bullying. Each chapter ends with a summary and journal exercises. The relevant cartoon-style illustrations support the information throughout the book. Even though the book claims to be aimed at the age group of 9-13, it actually seems that it would be more accepted by younger readers. The style of writing often seems as though the author is lecturing the reader, as opposed to encouraging or being supportive. McGraw often uses all capital letters or repeats a sentence for emphasis as though the reader did not get it the first time. The life strategies, as promised by the title, don’t actually come until after the first hundred pages. Frequently throughout the first hundred pages, McGraw also states that he will get to the strategies “later.” I am not sure how many young readers would be willing to wait for the strategies. Grades 4-6.
