About this audiobook
The Gump phenomenon continues!
Forrest Gump is back!
The lovable man for all ages, who captured America's heart in the #1 bestselling novel Forrest Gump and in the blockbuster film, returns in the long-awaited sequel to the book hailed by Larry King as "the funniest novel I have ever read." A little older, and wiser in his own unique way, he is still running through the kaleidoscopic events of our times -- and straight into the age of greed and instant gratification known as the 1980s.
When Gump & Co. begins, the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. has gone bust and Forrest is flat broke, sweeping floors in a New Orleans strip joint and trying to raise his son, little Forrest, who needs his father more than ever. As always in Forrest's easy-come-easy-go life, a change in the weather is never far off...and when the opportunity to play championship football comes his way once more, Forrest is back in the limelight and in the money.
Forrest's remarkable, touching, and utterly comic odyssey has just begun: in store for him is his own dubious recipe for adding life to New Coke; an encounter with Ollie North; and a chance yet again to unwittingly twist the nose of history.
The Rollicking Sequel to the # 1 New York Times Bestseller Forrest Gump.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Groom's post-Zemeckis sequel unfortunately reads more like a sequel to the movie Forrest Gump rather than his original novel, which is a shame. It lacks the bite of the Forrest Gump novel, and is instantly forgettable. Meh.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I could hear a faint, but distracting audio defect that sounded like a second audio track. Sometimes that audio sounded like an echo of the spoken word and other times it was music that seemed unrelated to the primary track.
Also, it was jarring how the main character as narrated seemed to have a fluctuating vocabulary and speaking style that was not consistent with what we know of the character from the first book. He speaks with words, sometimes in the same sentence, that seem to fluctuate between what is expected for someone with a 70 IQ and what might be expected of at least a normal, high-school graduate vocabulary. Once noticed, it's distracting and hard to not notice.
Having listened to this, I am thankful that it was fairly brief, since it fell far short of the original audiobook and I did not have to wait so long for it to end. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Forrest Is an honest good hearted person
great addition to Forrest Gump. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Perfect for fans of the first book and fans of the movie. Laugh out loud moments and a few plucked heartstrings.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Good sequel to the first book but you could tell that it was done after the movie came out and that it influenced the book.
