About this audiobook

Stuart Woods is in top form…and so is his perennially popular hero, Stone Barrington!

When a hedge fund billionaire hires Stone Barrington to talk some sense into his wayward son, it seems like an easy enough job; no one knows the hidden sins and temptations of the ultra-wealthy better than Stone. But as Stone and his erstwhile protégé, Herbie Fisher, probe deeper into the case-and an old one comes back to haunt him---he realizes that even he may have underestimated just how far some people will go to cover up their crimes…and plan new ones.

I rea this one way out of order, having finished the series to date. These are the comments from others: "Stone Barrington isn't even the main character in the book, being relegated to supporting status to two other regular characters...Stone takes a back seat in this novel to Herbie Fisher, who has become the "new" fixer at Woodman & Weld. Hapless Herbie is the biggest rainmaker in the world? " All true. the protagonist is a lying rich kid who's father is sorry that he ever brought the kid to life. That's the story.--not Herbie.

    Another good Stone Barrington book.

Another romp in the world of wealthy murderers for Stone and Dino. In this one, Herbie Fisher, has taken center stage. It's highly unlikely a complete idiot, as Herbie as been portrayed in Stuart Woods's previous books, could have morphed into this rich, well-dressed, well-mannered, intelligent lawyer in just a couple of books, or at all for that matter, but he seems to have done just that. That plot twist is just as unbelievable as the rest of the story, but there is just enough sex, shootings, and humor to get you through it.

I was disappointed with this book. It was more of a Herbie Fisher book then a Stone Barrington book.

This novel had more of Herbie Fisher, than Stone, which was OK. More typical Stone exploits.

Nice addition to the Stone Barrington series about detective work, crime, and wealthy.

Meh....quick read, somewhat enjoyable, but WAY too many plots points and characters crammed into a small, quick, paperback-read. Most of the book is not even about Stone Barrington (even though this is technically a Stone Barrington Novel), but focuses on a secondary character. Time for a new spin-off series, Woods....stop hijacking Barrington to develop your other characters.

More about Herbie than Stone. Herbie takes charge of his life and career and comes of age. Stone and friends still reeling from the closing of Elaine's. With no successor in sight, they just wander through a number of New York's high end elite hangouts and dining spot. Quick and entertaining.

Synopsis: Elaine has died and the restaurant is closing. Shelly is on the loose and still enamored with Dino; he's still infatuated with her. However, a new detective comes into his group and her name is Viv. Stone meets a dancer who is fearful of another man and Herby is doing quite well as a lawyer. Review: This book is fun and quick to read. The story hangs together well and paves the way for new relationships and more maynem.

As a Stone Barrington novel, this is an easy, comfortable read. Not quite as full of flash and intrigue as previous Barrington stories I've read, but if you've become fond of this character, you'll enjoy this novel as well.In the course of the story, a bad guy is vanquished, a good girl saved and loads of bucks spread around as Barrington hobnobs with beautiful dancers, cops and the mega-rich.The characters are well known to Woods readers, the story flows well and sufficient details are provided to draw clear scenes and let you know the class of people populating this novel.Unlike many of Wood's novels, this is more laid back and formulaic. There are no surprises, thus making this novel easy, mindless entertainment.

I won a copy from a Goodreads First Reads giveaway.Reminded me a lot of a James Patterson book because of the fast chapters, easy to read, and fairly formulaic plot that all worked out in the end. It was good enough for me to read the entire thing and even be a bit interested in reading the series from the beginning to learn more about the characters since this is the 1st book I've read from the series.. So that is a plus.

Typical Stone Barrington novel. Stone, Dino and Herbie are involved with wealthy clients with troubled kids but the clients always seem to make Stone richer and Dino always has Stone's help in catching the bad guys. I'm done with Stone -- it's the same thing over and over.
