About this audiobook

The beloved characters Shelley Shepard Gray created for her bestselling Seasons of Sugarcreek series are back in Christmas in Sugarcreek—a heartwarming story of the magic of Christmastime and the blossoming of an unlikely love in a close-knit Amish community. Obedient daughter Judith Graber finds herself becoming uncomfortably enamored of the help her father has hired to assist in the store during the holidays: Ben Knox, as scandalous a bad boy as they come in staid and quiet Sugarcreek. Author of the immensely popular Sisters of the Heart novels, Shelley Shepard Gray is one of the true masters of Amish inspirational fiction, and Christmas in Sugarcreek is a delightful holiday treat for all lovers of Christian romance—especially fans of Beverly Lewis, Wanda Brunstetter, and Cindy Woodsmall.

This was a nice quick and enjoyable read. Even though I have not read the other books in the series, it was easy to get into and follow the story. I have always enjoyed fictional stories about Amish communities and this did not disappoint. An excellent book to curl up with over a weekend!

This book was light and enjoyable Christmas fare. Pick it up and read it on a cold winter's day with a warm cup of hot coco and let yourself get lost in Sugarcreek.Shelley Shepard Gray does a good job with the story. Nothing too heavy. This book is just right for the holiday season. Also, the book has allusions to O. Henry's "The Gift of the Maji".Treat yourself to Christmas in Sugarcreek.

Believe it or not I could not make myself finish this book. I have loved all the others in the series.
Maybe it is me and not the books.

"Christmas in Sugarcreek" is the fourth and final book in Shelley Shepard Gray's series "Seasons of Sugarcreek". I have not read the first three books, but I plan to correct that very soon! A few pages into this book, and I was hooked. The characters are wonderfully etched, and I was immediately drawn into the story line. Judith Graber, dutiful elder daughter, works hard to help and care for her family. She never turns down a request for assistance, putting the needs of others above her own dreams and desires. She has a loving home with her family, works in the family business, and is well-respected. Yet, she longs for more--a home of her own, and a loving husband to share her future. When Ben Knox, long considered to be somewhat dark and dangerous, returns to Sugarcreek to sell his own family's home, Judith finds herself once again aflutter over her feelings for Ben. Unbeknownst to Judith, Ben has always cared for her, but he felt himself to be unworthy and unacceptable to her family. However, when Judith's father hires Ben to help at the family store, Judith and Ben find themselves in each other's company every day, and their eyes are opened toward about their own true personas and their real feelings. I fell in love with Ben outright--his strength, gentleness and humility were so very appealing. His protectiveness and consideration toward Judith was exactly what she so needed, and her acceptance and admiration for him put him at ease with her family and the community. His tenderness and patience with the children in the story is very touching. The characters from the other three books all play a role in this story line, and I was intrigued by each couple's individual history. This is a delightful and romantic holiday read, and the whole series sounds very worthwhile!

Great book! I loved that it followed a few different people. It starts 10 days before Christmas and goes till the day after and you can easily tell which day is which.

Christmas has come to Sugarcreek, Ohio & Judith's family's store is busy. Her dad hires Ben to help out ubtil the holiday is over and that is fine with Ben. He plans to sell his boyhood home, where there are too many bad memories, and go somewhere -anywhere.I always enjoy Gray's books and this is no exception. I read it in two days, hating when I had to put it aside.

This is the first book I've read by Shelley Shepard Gray. Christmas in Sugarcreek was a fun and easy read about an Amish family. Judith Graber has always been the responsible one but is falling for Ben Knox who returned to town after being gone for some time to sell his family home. The characters are fun and believable. This book starts 10 days before Christmas and ends the day after.

Good book that was a quick read. It details the relationships between several couples and how they come to accept how they feel about each other. Judith learns to see Ben as he is now instead of how he was when they were growing up. Rebecca learns that Caleb can love her no matter what and I enjoyed the Gift of the Magi twist for one of the couples.

This is a wonderful faith-filled combination of stories taking place in the Amish community of Sugarcreek. In this wonderful, quaint town we meet Rebecca, Judith and Lilly. Each young girl struggles with new-found responsibilities, as well as their faith, and a new love. This is the first Amish love story I have read, although I understand they are quite the popular Christian book genre! Rest assured.... this will not be the last!Rebecca finds a love with a young man running from his past. Judith with a young man that doesn't mind her impoverished state. And Lilly with an older man willing to go against his family, and his way of life, to embrace their life together. All three find a love to last a lifetime! All in the Amish community of Sugarcreek.Kind of makes me wish I could travel there to celebrate my own Christmas this year!I give this book Five Stars and my Thumbs Up Award!I highly recommend this reading for youth, young adults and adults of all ages. Would make an excellent group study [and there's even group questions in the back!]****DISCLOSURE: This book was provided as part of the Amazon Vine program in consideration for an independent review of the writer's work.

A wunderbaar Amish novel! I love Christmas time and I love Amish so this was a double bonus for me. Ms. Gray is one of my absolute favorite authors and her work just gets better with each new novel she writes. This Christmas story is continuing in the Sugarcreek series and brings the reader back to the heart of the Amish community. I absolutely loved every minute of this story and can't wait for more!

Gray's Seasons of Sugarcreek holiday installment, Christmas in Sugarcreek, is a sweet story of love and redemption. The book is a quick, easy read, but a moving read, nonetheless. It is the story of two young people who are each misunderstood in their own way. Judith is frustrated in a life where no one seems to appreciate her efforts to make everyones' lives easier. Ben is trying to find who his is and how he fits in the Amish church. They find comfort in each other and enjoy a special Christmas.

I won this from LibraryThing last year, but I didn't get it until after Christmas so I never read it. I decided to read it this season and I wasn't missing out on much. The writing was average and the story as well. It was a little interesting to read about Amish people, but the conflicts for the romances were so silly. Plus, there were 3 couples that the book was focusing on, and I really only wanted one, possibly two. It was such a small, quick read there was no reason to focus on so many people.

Judith Graber has always done what her family wants whether it is working in the family store, cooking, cleaning the house, or babysitting her younger siblings. But she sometimes thinks that no one cares about what she wants - which is to find someone she loves. Ben Knox, long considered a "bad boy" in the Amish community, is back in Sugarcreek - just long enough to sell his family's home. However, his plans may change as he grows closer to Judith and her family. Will both Ben and Judith find the love they've been looking for?"Christmas in Sugarcreek" is the first book I've read in Shelley Shepard Gray's Seasons of Sugarcreek series, but it won't be the last. Although this is part of a series, I never felt lost and I quickly became caught up with the various characters. Set in the Amish and Mennonite communities, the novel has several plot lines. Newly married Lilly Miller is determined to be the perfect wife (even if she can't cook) and is searching for just the right gift for her husband Robert. Judith's brother Caleb loves Rebecca Yoder but wonders what secrets she is keeping from him. And there is the main plotline involving Judith and Ben. All of these are nicely done as three people - Ben, Lilly, and Rebecca - all struggle with feeling that they don't deserve love. Rebecca and Ben's story lines are especially moving. Ben is a particularly interesting character, not as "bad" as he pretends to be and it interesting to read as Gray slowly reveals various aspects of his character. The romance between Ben and Judith is very sweet. The Christmas setting is nice (Gray starts the book ten days before Christmas and ends it the day after) and it is always interesting to read how the Amish celebrate Christmas. The whole Amish setting is very nicely done."Christmas in Sugarcreek" is a nicely done novel and a perfect read for the holidays.

Christmas in Sugarcreek is a sweet story revolving around several young couples during the days just before Christmas. I enjoyed the book. It was a very easy read. I had not read the previous books in the series but was able to follow the story. I would recommend this book to others looking for a nice uncomplicated romance.

Ties together all the characters in the Seasons of Sugarceek Series. I was sad to see this was the last book. I grew to love all the characters and glad the author each gave them a story esp. Judith and Caleb Graber.

A good choice for a feel-good Amish story set at Christmastime. Though the storyline is predictable, if you enjoy romance with few problems and a happy ending, this is the tale for you. A bit sappy at times, this audio book, well read and performed by Robynn Rodriguez, still is a nice way to pass the time while you are busy doing your own chores.

I received this book as a win in the Early Reviewers program on LT. This is my first book written by Shelley Shepard Gray.I enjoy reading books about the Amish even fiction books. This story didn't disappoint me either. This is part of a series which I did not know at the time. I was still able to follow the story since this was mainly about Judith Graber. The story was fast moving and easy to follow. I enjoyed reading about how the Amish were celebrating Christmas. It was a nice easy read for a snowy weekend.

This is the 3rd in a series of Amish/Mennonite life. I am unsure as to the location and as to the time period, but laptop computers are mentioned. This is a simple, loving Christmas novella that describes the differences between the Amish and the Mennonites. The story centers on Judith Graber and her journey of finding herself amid her family. Judith has always been the sensible and dependable daughter and now she must decide if love is possible for her. Other minor stories arise such as the financial position of brother Caleb's girlfriend, Rebecca, and the trust and settling of newlyweds Lilly and Robert. The message is one of trusting in God and in yourself.

This is the first book by Shelly Shepard Gray that I have read but it will not be the last. I loved the way she wrote and especially the topic that she wrote about. I really enjoyed the personal touch she gave each character and how their lives were intertwined. I enjoyed the different ways love was displayed and how important it is to realize that people change constantly and we must be open to receive them with their changes. I love reading about the Amish community and I am looking for another one of her books to read. Thanks for giving me this opportunity.

First of all I have to say that Shelley Shepard Gray is one of my all-time favorite authors to read. I have read every book in the Seasons of Sugarcreek series and I love them all! I was SO thrilled to have received this book thru the Early Reviewers program. I really wanted to save this book until I had the tree up with the lights twinkling, all snuggled on the couch with a big warm quilt and hot cup of Vanilla Chai, but unfortunately, I received the book before my perfect scenario could be achieved...lol. Anyway, (I digress..) I couldn't wait, so I read this book in one sitting. It is exactly as I expected, with all the wonderful characters reuniting to celebrate the holiday season. I have a huge passion for Amish fiction, and this book was such a joy to read. Thanks Shelley for another fabulous book!!!

Very easy and fast moving story. I found the main characters story- Judith was a little hard to follow at times. The rest of the family was hard to follow and not very interesting. The Christmas storyline was nice with the countdown to the 25th. The end of the story was too short. But yes it did leave us wanting another story about Judith and Ben. A very nice Christian storyline.

i loved this book. it's a continuation of a series but this is the only one i have read. that did not make a difference though as the books stands on it's own. the characters are very believable and enchanting. the author tells a powerful story of the love shared by three couples. each with it's own ups and downs but their love and faith bring them through. i would highly recommend this book.
