About this audiobook

Tall, lean and headstrong, FBI agent Kilraven lives by his own rules. And one of those rules includes keeping his hands off Jacobsville's resident sweetheart, Winnie Sinclair, no matter the temptation. Shy and innocent, Winnie couldn't handle a man like him—a merciless man with a haunted past. And this small town may hold not only the woman he fights to resist, but the answers to a cold case that is very personal to Kilraven....

Winnie has had her own share of sorrow and senses Kilraven's pain. Even though she tries to deny it, the gentle 911 operator feels a connection with the darkly handsome agent. When he makes the disturbing discovery that her family's unsavory past might have a bearing on his case, Winnie is determined to help him crack it...and the ice around his heart.

As they combine forces in a dangerous investigation, the stakes rise ever higher. Winnie's life is on the line, and she'll need Kilraven more than ever. But if they are to have a future together, her ruthless Texan will need to confront his past and risk it all for their love.

Amanda quick is one of my favorite authors. her blend of mystery, romance, and history is great.

Kilraven was looking forthe murder of his wife and cild. It is a cold case. Kilraven and Winnie Sinclair a police dispatcher get off on the wrong foot at first. Then they went under cover as a married couple to find the murder of his wife and child.

Winnie Sinclair likes her job as a 911 dispatcher - she likes tall dark and handsome FBI agent Kilraven even more. Kilraven comes (of course) will all sorts of baggage in the shape of a murdered wife and child; a cold case which is heating up, and which he'll stop at nothing to solve. Short version: he's not in the market for an innocent like Winnie, no matter how appealing he finds her. When circumstances converge to result in a quickie marriage (to be just as quickly anulled) it's no surprise things end up in the bedroom. While this isn't (quite) as vapid as the last of Palmer's I read, the plot is predictable and neither hero nor heroine are particularly memorable. If you're a fan, it's probably going to suit you. Fluffy, sugary, and nowhere close to riveting.

Police dispatcher Winnie Sinclair gets off on the wrong foot with FBI agent, Kilraven. She paints a portrait of a raven surrounded by decorative beads and gives it to him as a secret gift at the Police Dept. Christmas party. When he opens the gift, Winnie sees his look of anger before he storms out of the party.Later that night, Winnie recieves a surprise visit from her mother. She hasn't spoken to her mother since she ran off with her uncle, a drug dealer. Winnie's father never forgave his former wife and when he drank, he'd take out his anger against Winnie because she looked so much like her mother.Kilraven realizes that he needs to explain his reaction to Winnie's gift. He invites her to his home and shows her a drawing that his daughter, Melly, made the day before she and Kilraven's wife were murdered, seven years ago. The drawing is so much like Winnie's painting that Kilraven thought someone had shown his daughter's drawing to her.Kilraven is still in grief over his family's murder. He finds a connection to Senator Sanders and the Senator's brother, Harry. He also learns that the Senator has a thing for young girls and may have caused the death of a young girl because of his actions. The Senator's wife won't stay with him because of his predeliction and she is currently at the family home in Nassau. When Kilraven learns that Winnie's family has a home on the border of the Senator's, he thinks of a plan. There's not a lot of action or suspense in this novel but for the reader looking for interesting characters, this book is a treat. Kilraven reminds me of Clint Eastwood's character, Rowdy Yates, in TV's Rawhide. Also, when a young character named Matt makes his appearance in the novel, get ready to have your heart won over. The author's theme seems to be the strength of family and the benefit of forgiveness. I recommend the book for those who enjoy romantic suspense with the emphasis on "romantic."

3.5 stars rounded up. The heroine was consistently naive which I don't really care for, but was otherwise intelligent. And the hero's seducing language toward locks he was picking was ridiculous in a bad way. And there was a long exposition in the end to wrap up the mystery even though we already knew most of it by then, so I wasn't a fan of that either. But, I liked how the hero appreciated genuine qualities about the heroine, they bonded over their shared curiosity to solve puzzles and things, and overall I just liked them and enjoyed watching their relationship develop.

Yes, Amanda Quick's heroes and heroines are much of a muchness and her plots are rather formulaic. That said, she is, nonetheless, a wonderful storyteller. The mysteries are suspenseful and the romances are entertaining and satisfying.

Dangerous is no exception with the heroine, Prudence Merryweather, engaging in paranormal investigations, and the hero, Sebastian, Earl of Angelstone, investigating crimes for the Bow Street Runners. The two find themselves embroiled in a case involving the strange and untimely deaths of several men who may or may not have been responsible for the death of a young woman.

As with most of Quick's books, Dangerous is a fast-paced read with engaging characters and a well-written sex scenes.
All in all, this is a classic Quick and is highly recommended for both fans and newbies. On to the next one!

It does follow pretty predictable Amanda Quick/Jayne Ann Krentz lines with the story and the characters. That's not a problem for me as I do like the characters she creates and these two are better than some others. I could see the growing affection for the characters and the growing understanding that give and take was going to be an important part of their relationship. I did like how it wasn't all plain sailing and it relied on both of them to solve the mystery and on both of them working as a team to do it. I know that some of the situations and attitudes aren't period and I know that a lot of the shennagins were over the top but I did enjoy the read and the character interactions, they sparked well.

What can I say? I love a Nick and Nora story. A frothy, funny story where the hero doesn't get to oppress the heroine much at all. It's wrapped around two violent tragedies, so watch out for the sudden dip from sparkling banter to way too much distressing detail.

I loved this heroine she was not the typical insecure type but was one that was quite happy in her own skin

I loved this book so much when I was in high school. I'm older now and gender relations and romance genre conventions have changed in the past 15 years. Still, all the elements that made me enjoy it are still there: it's a fun, frothy romance with great characters.Prudence is entertainingly kooky, unashamedly smart and wears her rose-colored glasses very deliberately. Sebastian is broody, protective and has a sardonic sense of humor. Supporting characters swan, sulk and otherwise emote about as necessary. I'd still rate Ravished as my favorite Amanda Quick, but reading this again was a very fun way to spend a few hours.
