About this audiobook

The controversial New York Times bestseller that tells the "engrossing account of the military operation that resulted in the death of Osama bin Laden." —Kirkus Reviews (starred)

On May 2, 2011, at 1:03 a.m. a satellite uplink was sent from Pakistan crackling into the situation room of the White House: "Geronimo, Echo, KIA." These words, spoken by a Navy SEAL, ended Osama bin Laden's reign of terror. SEAL Target Geronimo is the story of Neptune's Spear from the men who were there. After talking to members of the SEAL team involved in the raid, Pfarrer shares never-before-revealed details in an exclusive account of what happened as he takes readers inside the walls of Bin Laden's compound penetrating deep into the terrorist's lair to reach the exact spot where the Al Qaeda leader was cowering when the bullet entered his head. SEAL Target Geronimo is an explosive story of unparalleled valor and clockwork military precision carried out by the most elite fighting force in the world—the U.S. Navy's SEAL Team Six.

Well-presented summary of the factors leading to the killing of Osama bin Laden, the mastermind of 9/11. The author does a great job of summarizing the SRALs, they're training, some of their many successes including the Captain Philips episode, the Mideast quagmire, the Afghan war and the rise of bin Laden, up to the final mission that put the terrorist into a watery grave. There are also comments about Saddam's WMDs which the press is committed to saying don't exist despite their use in IEDs encountered by American troops. There's also convincing speculation about a protége who allegedly set up bin Laden. Excellent reading, very informative.

Langweiliges Buch. geht nur zu ca. 1/3 Wirklich auf die Geschehnisse ein und schweift den rest langatmig durch die Geschichte der SEALs.Der ganze überhebliche Heltenton im Buch ist unerträglich.

Well written book. Author does his best to create a complete story based on information gathered from participants in both the hunt for UBL and the final mission. While the specifics do not match information in No Easy Day by Mark Owens, the general message is the same. A master terrorist was hunted down and terminated. This book had more specifics about types of equipment available to Seal Teams and what was used during the actual engagement. As an American I thank all participants for making the world a safer place.

Well-written and fast-paced. I appreciated the space given to providing context about the SEALs and Osama bin Laden, and focusing less on breast-beating and the "skiet, skop & donner" aspects. Fascinating is the fact that SEAL Team Six apparently forms part of an almost autonomous military arm that seems to have a direct line to the US President. How much of the book is factual is open to question: I am dubious of the claims of Iraqi WMD finding their way to Al Qaeda. It reeks of an attempt at retrospective justification of the invasion of Iraq.I recommend the book to those interested in special forces operations.
