A lot more religious than I was anticipating. I had a library book and did not notice the Zondervan name. This is definitely Christian Inspiration!

I loved watching this family. Until the divorce. It broke my hearts. I couldn't watch it anymore.

This was a really interesting book. A first hand look at the pregnancy and the first couple years after the sextuplets were born.

The Gosselins have always fascinated me, largely because of their TV show. What other family would allow a TV crew to add to the chaos of 8 children, basically all around the same age? From watching the show, you get the impression that the Gosselins live a life of trips, presents and special events, thanks largely to their six four-year-old moppets - and you learn to wince whenever Kate calls out to Jon in a public setting. I've never quite seen someone as anal and controlling as Kate - but perhaps that comes in handy when you need to be organized in life.

This book, short on substance, doesn't answer any burning question like does Jon still work or why does Kate seem abnormally cut-off from her family. At best it attempts to disassemble the impression you may have had that this family constantly goes around with its hand out, expecting society to provide after fertility treatments went wrong. It doesn't quite get there but you do feel a smidgeon of compassion for Kate at the end - if only because she seems to have wrapped herself up in a bubble that she can't break free from.

This book was sweet. Just sad to see that their family isn't doing that well these days.

Yes, I watched the show, and yes I read the book, I admit it. I have to say that Kate comes across a lot nicer and more in love (at the time) with her husband. And knowing now how there marriage ended, I have to say I'm surprised, and sad. To come through all of that, especially for Jon, who while being hesitant to go for a second preganancy, also stepped up and took on a lot, and have your marriage fail is sad. Kate may not say this, but I do think that putting your loves on camera, especially when Jon wasn't as into it, was trouble for thier marriage. In any case, the book is an easy read, and a somewhat interesting story. But not the book to read to answer questions like did Kate and her family have some sort of falling out? and What's the whole aunt Jody mess about?

This book is exactly what you would expect. The writing's mediocre, but it provides lots of interesting details about the Gosselin family. Fans of the show Jon & Kate Plus 8 will enjoy it. One thing to note is that Kate Gosselin is devoutly religious and it comes through in this book.

Quick, exciting read. Honestly, it felt like a detective story as I kept waiting to figure out how they did it - How did this fairly young couple cope with eight kids, especially since dad was (initially) unemployed? I'm kinda in awe.

I'm a fan of the show and thought it'd be interesting to read the internal thoughts, likely never divulged before, of Jon and Kate regarding their unique situation. The book is a quick read that flows nicely. I don't have any issues with the technical aspect but I do have some concerns. I'm a religious person but even I found the abundance of religion in the book to be off-putting. The incessant Bible quotations and religious statements read more of Kate cramming religion down my throat than the remarks of a devout Christian who manages a tough and miraculous situation with the guidance and help of God.It is great to know that Kate has a solid personal relationship with God but the passion exuding from her remarks lack the compassion that I've always been taught and came across as more militant. Even the passages that don't mention religion feature her militant "I'm in charge and if you don't like it get the heck out of my way" attitude. It is important to have a system that works for you, as her's seems to based on what she said, but one also has to be tolerant of others and what works for them. This book revealed an uglier person than I have ever seen on the show, which says something because she is constantly attacking her husband. There's no doubt that love exists between the two and also for all their children. That is an amazing thing, which they both need to be applauded for when far too often parents don't love their children or each other. This was refreshing to see.Like others who have written reviews I found several moments to be especially touching. Some resulted with a tear in my eye and many times I exclaimed "that's so many children." I simply don't know how they do it but am happy that they manage. There is one final issue, perhaps a minor one, but the cover lists Jon and Kate along with Beth Carson as the authors. Yet, the copyright page excludes Jon and it is clear the book is written from Kate's point of view. Even here on LibraryThing Jon is excluded as an author (I've added him now). Is this a simple issue of marketing "oh look it is Jon and Kate from that TV show" or did something drastically change in the editing room?

This was a really thoughtful and well written book by Kate Gosselin. Her voice really does come through. I must confess that I do watch the show, after which you really do feel like you know her family, but to read her words, which so obviously are her own, lets you get inside her and her husband's frame of mind when deciding to forage ahead after discovering Kate was pregnant with 6 babies. I was teary a few times and mostly felt like Kate was in a conversation with me. It was nice to hear her voice without the 8 little voices interrupting as always seems to happen in real life.
